About

Government Engineering College, Chamarajanagar (GECC), is a premier college which was established in the year 2007.  It is one of the State-run Engineering institutions run by Government of Karnataka.  It caters to the rural students in the backward district of Karnataka along the borders of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.  More than 75% of the students of the institution belong to SC/ST/OBC categories and majority of them hail from economically weaker sections from rural area.   

The GECC campus is spread over 33 acres of land in Bedarapura, Nanjangudu-Chamarajanagara Road, Badanaguppe, Karnataka.   The college is located 7 kilometers from Chamarajanagar and 53 kilometers from Mysore, which is well connected by roadand train.  The nearest airport is Mysore.

The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. It is approved by AICTE, New Delhi.  At present, GECC is managed by the Education Department (ED) through the Department of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Karnataka.

The Government Engineering College is established with four branches of Engineering, namely, Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and computing & Engineering and offers Bachelor’s degree BE in the same with an annual intake of 60 seats per course.  As per Government order all admissions to the college will be through KEA-Karnataka Examination Authority, Government of Karnataka on Merit-Based Entrance Test.

GEC Chamarajanagarprovides good infrastructure and the best of Facilities like Separate Building for each branch, Spacious Classrooms, Hostel, Central Library, Laboratory, Computer Lab, Canteen, Conference Hall, Wi-fi Connection, Sports & Games facilities, Medical Faciities,  etc.  The GEC is involved in Societal Intervention activities by assisting local bodies in Technical matters related to Planning and Execution of their schemes.

Placement

The placement and training cell at college level was started as a separate entity in the year 2007. In the year of inception, the placement and training cell modestly established contact with few organizations. The independent placement and training rooms in the main administrative block has been built with a view to provide the convenience for executives to conduct fair and transparent talent search to recruit good quality engineers for positions in organization.

Placement and training cell is providing some pre – placement training for the pre final year students. Placement and training cell organizes talks from various professionals from different zones.
