Government Medical College & ESIC Hospital, Coimbatore - GMC & ESICH, Coimbatore  located in Singanallur, Coimbatore, is spread over approximately 38 acres of land. This Medical College is attached to a hospital that has been serving the public since 1971, consistently providing dedicated healthcare services. Initially operated by the Tamil Nadu State Government, the hospital has since been taken over by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and is now functioning as a 300-bedded hospital. It offers comprehensive healthcare services through outpatient clinics housed in a newly constructed building and inpatient care across key departments including General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and several other specialties. The hospital is well-equipped with diagnostic and support facilities such as X-ray, radiology, scanning, and laboratory services. As part of ongoing development, the old hospital building is currently under renovation, and a new hospital complex has been constructed. The Outpatient Department (OPD) and Casualty services are located in a newly built block. Additionally, another new hospital building has been added to the premises to meet the growing needs of patients. The Operation Theatre, including a Modular OT, is situated within the new hospital facility. The academic infrastructure of the Medical College is also well-developed. A well-stocked library is located in the college building, and the classrooms are constructed in compliance with the norms prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI). A separate auditorium is also available on campus. All facilities and infrastructure have been established as per the standards and guidelines of the MCI.

The Government Medical College & ESIC Hospital, Coimbatore, was initially established by the Government of India and later handed over to the Government of Tamil Nadu. The College offers a MBBS Degree Course of 4.5 Years + 1 Year of Internship. The Intake Capacity for MBBS is 100 Seats. Paramedical Course Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) with Annual Intake of 50 Students.
