Commonly referred to as GMC Kasaragod, it is a public medical college set up by the Government of Kerala under the Department of Medical Education. The college serves as a center for undergraduate medical education and aims to strengthen healthcare and medical training facilities in the northernmost part of the state.
Government Medical College, Kasaragod is located in Ukkinadka, near Mundayathadukka in Kasaragod district, Kerala, about 30 km south of Kasaragod town. It is well-connected by road to Kanhangad, Mangalore, and nearby regions. Established to meet the healthcare and educational needs of northern Kerala, the campus is being developed with an academic block, administrative block, hospital complex, and hostels. It includes a proposed 500-bed multi-specialty hospital and residential quarters. Accessible via the Mundayathadukka–Puthige road, the college benefits from infrastructure support by KIIFB. Surrounded by greenery, it offers a peaceful semi-urban environment ideal for medical education and patient care, with ongoing expansion toward a modern medical hub.
