GMC Kota was established in 1992. The Government Medical College, [GMC] Kota came in the existence in March 1992 and the first principal of the college was Dr. RL Ajmera. The first batch was started in the year 1992-93 session and regular classes were started in the ESI Hospital building at Jhalawar road Kota with 50 students. The institute is recognized by MCI since December 1998.

 The institute offers medicine-related courses. Admission to the MBBS course is based on the NEET UG exam and admission to the MD course is based on the NEET PG exams.
