Government Medical College, Thiruvallur was established in the year 2021. It is associated with a teaching hospital known as Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.  It is a tertiary care hospital that provides good and timely medical services to the people of Thiruvallur and surrounding areas.  GMC, Thiruvallur is one of the most famous government Medical colleges in Tami Nadu.  The GMC, Thiruvallur is affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and National Medical Council (NMC).

Government Medical College, Thiruvallur Courses are quality medical programs under highly qualified faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure.  It offers an undergraduate medical program leading to an MBBS degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. GMC, Thiruvallur was recently approved for 100 seats for MBBS intake, admissions for which are made through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Eligible candidates need to qualify for NEET and participate in the centralized counselling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu.The guidelines are provided by the erstwhile MCI (Currently NMC).

Placements: 

Students are doing internships with a stipend of Rs. 23,000 per month. After MBBS, if students get into PHC, the salary will be Rs. 50,000 per month. After completing PG, students can earn in lakhs. Placements are similar to other government medical colleges.
