The Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute, Bangalore was founded in the year 1938 by the two erstwhile Dewans, Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M. Visvesvaraya, as a commemoration of 25 years of the reign by the Late His Highness Nalwadi Krishnarajendra Wodeyar Bahadur, Maharaja of Mysore.  This institution, the first of its kind in South India,  provides students with a comprehensive education that covers all aspects of technology and churn out well-trained personnel for higher positions of the organized Textile Industry, covering its various facets and helping it to grow year after year.  Today SKSJTI can claim to be the tallest institution and is under the control of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka SKSJT Institute campus is located in a serene and peaceful 16 acres of land on Nrupathunga Rd, Ambedkar Veedhi, Sampangi Rama Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka. 

The Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute, Bangalore is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka State, and is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi.The SKSJT Institute offers BE and B.Tech UG Degree programs and ME and M.Tech PG programs.  It also offers PhD doctoral programs in the field of Textile Science, Engineering and Technology.   Admission to B.E & B.Tech courses is through Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore.  Admissions for ME & M.Tech is through PGCET/GATE Entrance Test conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.  Eligibility for Ph. D course is as per Admission Regulations of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka.

This institute has been selected under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, and Government of India. The college is covered under sub-component 1.1 of TEQIP-II Phase and the Institute has received a grant of 2 crore towards first installment.
