Guru Nanak Devji, the second one covered Deccan and SriLanka, during which he passed through Bidar, where, in response to the prayers of local inhabitants, he touched the rock with his right toe and a perenial fresh water spring continues to flow to this day. Thus it begot the name SRI NANAK JHIRA SAHEB.

A prabandhak committee was formed in 1950 to renovate and develop Gurdwara under the Presidenship of Pant Bhushan Sant Sardar Bhishan Singhji. Unfortunately in the year 1966, Santji expired and the mantle fell on the shoulders of his son Sardar Joga Singhji who continued to provide stewardship to the Prabandhak Committee to the welfare and up-liftment of Human Society.

As developing activities were growing fast, a public, Religious, Educational and Charitable trust by the name Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation was established in March 1987 by the Prabandhak Committee Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar.

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, a premier center of Technical Education, was established in August, 1980 by the Prabandhak Committee, Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar as per the Govt. of Karnataka Order No.ED 150 TEC 79, dated 8th August, 1980.

At present College is being managed by Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation (Trust). Initially, the College was affiliated to Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. However, subsequently a separate Technical University Viz. Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, has been established during the academic year 1998-99, since then this College has been affiliated to the said University.

This College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and was Accredited twice by National Board of Accreditation (N.B.A.), New Delhi during the year 2005 , 2009 & 2022(4 UG Programs: B.E in CSE,ECE,EEE & CIVIL) are accrediated. GNDEC started in the year 1980 with an annual intake of 120 in three traditional branches. Currently 2500 students all over from country benefit from a rare level of education imparted through professionals.

The meticulous planning and foresight of the management has ensured that every facility is provided to the students. Sophisticated and modern equipment are added to facilitate Research and Development work. The campus has optical Fiber Network and is wi-fi enabled. GNDEC Bidar Admission Process

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar offers admission at the undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes. At the UG level, GNDEC Bidar offers admission in the B.Tech programme in 9 disciplines and at the PG level, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar offers admission in the M.Tech programme in 2 disciplines and an MBA programme. Admission in the B.Tech programme at GNDEC Bidar is made on the basis of KCET scores while admission in the M.Tech and MBA programmes at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the Karnataka PGCET.

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar provides an opportunity to its students to apply for and to avail various scholarships. The Scholarships at GNDEC Bidar are available to the students as per the norms set up by the Government. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar awards Scholarships to the meritorious students. The students at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar who want to apply for the Scholarships are required to submit all the necessary documents to the College Authorities and only after the verification of the documents by the College Authorities, the students at GNDEC Bidar can avail the Scholarships.

Library

The College Library is provided with spacious accommodation and other infrastructure. it is enriched by about 32,530 volumes apart from 84 Indian Technical Journals and 12 Foreign Technical journals.A reading room is also provided in the Library in which all leading newspapers and magzines are available. Central reprographic facility is available in the library. In addition all department have their own Libraries.

Computer Center

The College is having a total 630 P-IV Computers with 400 systems on client Server configuration. 100 PCs are on Internet connectivity, there are 42 licensed Software.All the departments are interconnected with OFC and each department has the Internet facility in their Computer Lab with 2 MBPS internet connection.The College is having 125 KVA Back-up Power supply for academic activities. Other facilities include Auditorium of 400 seating capacity, Guest House, Residential accommodation for limited number of staff & SBI ATM.

Medical Facilities

A dispensary is provided in the hostel Complex for the day-to-day treatment with services of a Medical officer.In addition, the College is having a Ambulance & tie-up with nearby sister concern i.e.a Multi Speciality 100 bedded Guru Nanak Hospital for medical cover.

Hostels

The College provides hostel accommodation to 640 out-station students in the College campus. The hostel fees and other charges are fixed by the Management from time to time. Indoor games, recreational facilities and a Gymnasium are provided in the hostels. The Hostel also has a Gurudwara Saheb with regular prayers taking place. A separate hostel for girl students is available in Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Complex, Bidar. All the Hostel students are provided with mess facility under the guidance of Warden and Mess Committee. Vegetarian food is provided in the Mess. The food expenses are approximately Rs.1200/- per month. Students indulging in ragging shall be expelled from the hostel immediately without assigning any reason & necessary disciplinary action will follow. No un-authorised student/person is allowed to stay in the hostel. The students are to abide by the Hostel Rules and Regulations supplied alongwith the Hostel application form and as prescribed by the Management from time to time.
