The Harur taluk in Dharmapuri district is a rural and economically backward area. The wish of the people of this area is to see their children emerge as graduates as a first step in advancing their lot. In the past, the students who wished to pursue their college education had to undergo a tiresome journey to Dharmapuri, Thirupattur or Krishnagiri.

With a view of realizing the dreams of the people of this region and sensing the urgent need for a good educational institution in this locality, a charitable educational trust called Amman Educational and Charitable Trust was formed by Mr. M. Mase, a prominent resident of Harur, who was also an eminent entrepreneur, businessman, and educationist, on October 26, 1994. Mr. M. Mase was the eldest son of Mr. R. Muthu Gounder, Ex. M.P.

Under the auspices of the above trust, the Muthu Mase Arts and Science College was started in Harur in 1999 with the uncompromising principle of inculcating the ideals of knowledge, discipline and fraternity among its students.

Late Thiru. R. Muthu Gounder was born as an agriculturist. He led the simple life of an agriculturist throughout his life. He was a member of the Parliament of India from 1962 to 1971. As a humanitarian, he participated in various social welfare programmes. He also formed many agricultural organizations and started many schemes for the welfare of the children of the local population of Dharmapuri district.

Tutorial System

A staff member is assigned to a group of students and he/she maintains a record of the students under his/her tutorage. He/she meets them periodically and informs the Principal of their progress. The students should also contact their tutors and discuss problems related to their studies and extra curricular activities in a free and frank manner.

Coaching Classes
Special coaching is given to those students who need additional assistance with their academic subjects. The special coaching classes are conducted in the mornings 8:00-9:00am and in the evenings 4:30-5:30pm.

Special Lecturers
Experts in various subjects are invited to deliver Guest Lectures on important topics.

Study Tours
Educational tours to industries and institutions are arranged every year to help the students obtain practical knowledge in the concerned subject.

Seminars
Students are encouraged to present papers in seminars. Such seminars help them to understand the subject and converse fluently. Students and staff are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate seminars and present papers.

Tests
Tests and terminal exams are conducted regularly to review progress in all the subjects. The question papers are set in the University Examination pattern in order to train students to face the university exams with confidence. Results are sent to parents. A model examination is also conducted before the University examination.

Promotion and Selection
Besides a student's attendance, his/her progress in studies and discipline is keenly observed by the lecturers and the Principal. It forms the criteria for permitting students to take the university examination.

Parent-Teacher Meetings
Parent-teacher meetings are conducted regularly to exchange views and discuss the progress of the students and means to improve their academic performance.

Placements
Muthu Mase College of Arts and Science, Harur actively seeks and maintains relationships with industry, entrepreneurs, and career development experts and provides training and information sessions to students on career development, career counseling, and interview skills. Final-year students are also offered the opportunity to attend job fairs and on-campus interviews to secure an internship after leaving college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions: During your studies, there is no interest charged. However, the terms and conditions of the grant of the educational loan are given in the loan agreement form, which you may peruse for more fuller and better understanding of the actual position.

The college campus is located in Harur in a rural and peaceful setting, and is accessible via all major bus routes. The campus occupies an area of 34 acres. The college operates buses throughout the local region, including Pappireddipatti, Uthangarai, Morappur, and Theerthamalai.

Canteen
A canteen facility with fresh and hygienic food and snacks is located on campus. The canteen is open between 8:30am and 6:00pm on working days. Food and snacks are available at subsidized prices.

Hostel

The college hostel for women is available with proper safety and adequate security. Hostel residents are provided nutritious meals and snacks hygienically prepared in the hostel kitchen.

Library

A modern library with a large collection of books, journals and magazines is located on campus to help students develop their knowledge and foster their research skills. The library is also equipped with computers and Internet access.
