Admission Procedure

HITS courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 123 courses offered at HITS. The courses are offered in fields like Engineering, Management, Design, Science. Admission Criteria

BTech Admission 2025

Hindustan University offers B.Tech programs across 11 branches, covering Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with five specializations. Additionally, B.Tech (CSE/IT) includes six specializations. Admission is based on HITSEEE scores, with candidates requiring a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories) and at least 60% in 10+2.

MBA Admission 2025

HITS Chennai MBA admissions are based on merit and HITSCAT, along with GD/PI. The university also accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, and CMAT. The annual fee remains INR 2,20,000, the same as the previous year. To be eligible, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

PhD Admission 2025

Hindustan University offers PhD programs in seven specializations, with a minimum eligibility requirement of 55% aggregate in a postgraduate degree Score/Merit in Entrance Test UGC-NET/CSIR-JRF/SLET/GATE and an annual fee of INR 40,000.

Admission Process 2025

Hindustan University Admission 2025 for UG and PG courses is open now. Admission to all the courses is merit-based. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are selected for admission at HITS. Applicants must apply online for admission registration. PG students must download the application form and submit it to the college along with a DD drawn in favor of the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science and payable at Chennai. However, UG students can fill out the application and submit it online. The application fee of Hindustan University is INR 1200.

Scholarship

Hindustan University Scholarships are offered to eligible candidates to support and promote higher education. A total of 4525 students were granted scholarships for the academic year 2023. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science offers various scholarships based on the factors such as merit in the examinations, economic background, sports quota and child/spouse of HITS Employees. Placement

The following steps are involved in the HITS placement process

• Commencement of Recruitment: Campus recruitment for final-year students begins in July every year.
  
• Recruitment Calendar: A placement calendar is released well in advance, indicating the tentative schedule of company visits.
  
• Drive Notifications: Based on the calendar, circulars are issued announcing each company drive with details such as eligibility criteria, job description, location, compensation, and other relevant information.
  
• Student Registration: Eligible and interested students register for the drive through the official online placement portal within the stipulated deadline.
  
• Orientation Sessions: Registered students attend orientation sessions designed to assess readiness and provide clarity on the recruitment process.
  
• Pre-Drive Training: Boot camps and refresher sessions are arranged, if required, to prepare students with company-specific skills and expectations.
  
• Pre-Placement Talk (PPT): Recruiters conduct PPTs, usually a day prior or on the day of the drive, to brief students about the organization, role, and selection process.
  
• Recruitment Drive Execution: The recruitment process (tests, group discussions, interviews, etc.) is conducted strictly in line with the company’s norms and procedures.

Facilities offered @ Hindustan University, Chennai

The Hindustan University Library system consists of a Central Library and Departmental Libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programs of the Institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to use the Library facilities enrolling membership.Besides, the Library has huge collection of books on Engineering, Science and Humanities through its various divisions.Digital Library has iMAC,iPad and Kindle with Internet Connectivity and also Wi-Fi for the students to access the Online Electronic Information Resources. Apart from these computers, the library has another 8 computers for the students to access OPAC.

HITS aims to provide conducive environment to foster knowledge amongst students and research scholars alike while helping the faculty and non-teaching staff to excel in their profession. While academics becomes the sword arm in this endeavor. Policies such as zero litter policy, no spitting policy, no smoking policy, which relate to public cleanliness and hygiene are strictly enforced as well. To efficiently and effectively implement the above policies, the Administration Department consists of the following functional divisions. Highest importance is given to Plumbing, Electrical, Water & Sanitation, and Air-conditioning . In each of these major portfolios, we have created specialized teams for immediate first response and action so that dependency on external agencies is minimized. All buildings are periodically inspected and painted fresh. The electricity department is equipped to ensure 24 x 7 continuous power supply with generators and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units as fail-over backup. The dual dimensions of Water and Sanitation are to ensure safe drinking water with the help of fully serviced Reverse Osmosis (RO) filters and an environmentally friendly zero waste water recycling system consisting of the three sewerage treatment plants.

This recycled water feeds into maintaining the vast and lush greenery of the campus. HITS also ensures a zero waste campus with its staff ensuring complete conversion of food waste garden waste into compost to be utilized for Gardens and Farms. Central Air Conditioning is selectively provided through well-maintained chiller plants, Air Handling Units (AHU), and ducts. Well-staffed housekeeping division is responsible for cleanliness and hygiene in all the facilities within the buildings such as classrooms, laboratories, offices, libraries, as well as bathrooms. The horticulture and gardening division is responsible for tree plantation and their maintenance. Approximately 100 trees are planted every year with a survival of 92 – 95%. l. The football grounds, cricket pitches, running tracks, are inspected for weather related degradation such as water logging, weeds, dry and dusty soil, and corrective measures are taken immediately. Campus clinics, ambulances and doctors are always available and medical facilities are regularly maintained throughout the year.

The security is enforced by a squad who are trained to be firm but courteous in their engagement with the campus community. The transport division is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining a large fleet of buses, cars, ambulances, vans. For this purpose, professionally staffed in-house service centers ensure the timely maintenance of all vehicles so that they are in excellent operative condition. Computer software and hardware maintenance are performed by trained engineers and technicians who form the Information & Communications Technology Services (ICTS) division of the University. ICTS, through its policies for maintenance, regular backup, system failover, disaster recovery, etc. ensures uninterrupted access to all information and network services. ICTS also handles maintenance of Audio-Visual equipment which includes projectors, Public Address systems, lecture capturing systems, etc.

Hostel

The college campus hosts seven hostels, with distinct facilities for boys and girls. Boys have three hostels, including Galaxy, Venus, and the new International Hostel, with the latter being more expensive but well-equipped with a gym and other amenities. The girls' hostel, Kasturba, offers triple sharing rooms with options for attached AC rooms. Hostel fees vary, with non-AC five-sharing rooms costing around Rs. 120,000 annually and AC rooms around Rs. 190,000. Hostels offer 24/7 security, dining facilities, and recreational amenities, but the infrastructure and maintenance have received mixed reviews.

Many students prefer nearby PG accommodations costing between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 8,000 monthly, citing better value for money compared to the hostel fees. Hostel food is generally rated as good, providing both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. However, some students report issues with food quality and room facilities. The registration process is straightforward, yet the overall hostel fees are considered high by several reviewers.

Transport

HITS makes student commuting, both within and outside the institution, as comfortable and convenient as possible. The Institute's buses transport students from all locations in and around Chennai. This enables day scholars to arrive on time.
