 Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HiCET), Coimbatore,  one of the leading Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu was established in the year 2000 by the great Industrialist and Philanthropist, Shri. T.S.R. Khannaiyann, under the aegis of Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust (1992). The Founder & Chairman the Trust whose determination and dynamism made possible the realization of this institution of excellence,  occupies a prime place in the chronicle of the Institution.  The Trust was entrusted to serve humanity, especially the youth and is being fulfilled through the Hindusthan Educational Institutions.   Smt. T.R.K. Sarasuwathi, Secretary of the Trust is also doubling as the Chairman of the HiCET.

The Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology is located in a huge and beautiful 200 acre Campus at Hicet, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The nearest railway station is Podanur Junction which is about 11 km from the HiCET, and the TNSTC Bus Depot is 18 km away from the college. The college is about 29 km away from Coimbatore International Airport. The college is easily accessible by road transport.  Surrounded by nature's pristine beauty and an excellent infrastructure coupled with dedicated and experienced faculty has made the campus is a much sought-after abode of learning.

 HiCET, Coimbatore is an AICTE-approved, Autonomous College in affiliation with Anna University.   The college is accredited with an ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).  The institution is recognized under Section 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 2021, Outlook ranked HICET, 37th among the Top Engineering Institutions in South Zone (India).  

 HiCET, Coimbatore offers 20+ programs at UG and PG level across the streams of Engineering, Technology and IT covering several specializations. Popular courses offered by thiscollege are B.E. / B.Tech , MBA/PGDM.  The UG courses are available in 15 different specialisations. The duration of HICET Coimbatore BE and BTech programme is 4 years. PG courses are offered in MCA, MBA and ME. The admission for UG courses are done through the TNEA exam. MBA admission requires a valid score of TANCET/ CET / MAT while MCA admission is based on TANCET / CET scores.

The Training and Placement Cell at the Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology undertake placement activity in the campus. The T&P cell assists with summer internship and final placement.  A few recruiters that hire from the campus include brands such as Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, Ford, DELL, HP and many more. Training and placement teams provide services such as Careers Development and Counselling.  

The Incubation Centre and Start Up service at Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology encourages and promotes Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurial activities in Technology-based areas.  It provides a platform for start-ups by young entrepreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products.  It also provides services related to Patenting and Commercialization.

• Graduated with a minimum 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories/Tamil Nadu BC/MBC/SC/ST)
• Bachelor’s degree in BCA/B.Sc IT/Computer Sci or others with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation.

The Library is stocked with an excellent collection of engineering, science, social science, and management books, articles, engrossing autobiographies and biographies, e-reference sources, national and international journals, and magazines, etc., to enkindle the knowledge of the students

"Sports are the greatest physical Poetry," to make the lines true, the college has rendered extensive playgrounds, play courts, and ultra-modern sports equipment to the students to distinguish themselves in creating history. Astonishing, elegant play courts are there for playing table tennis and basketball. An Indoor stadium is also available for playing indoor sports like Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, and Chess. Individual/martial sports like Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo, and Silambam are also encouraged on our campus. Apart from these ample facilities, praiseworthy direction, inspiration, and coaching are given by the Director of Physical Education towards the participation of students in various Inter-Collegiate, Inter-Zonal, State, and National level tournaments in a splendid manner.

As per the saying, 'you don't need a silver spoon to eat good food,' the cafeteria on the campus provides hygienic, quality, and tasty food adding to the living and learning experience of the students, faculty members, and visitors. The available cafeterias on the campus are Foody, Kerala Cafe, Munch Box, Swathi Cafe, Parambariya Samayal, and Coffee Day. Students immensely love these places because the spacious and trendy cafeterias sharpen the taste buds of the students and teachers. At times, it becomes the meeting place for students and teachers to exchange intellectual, humorous, and thought-provoking conversations.

Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology facilitates well-organized transport amenities that ensure the safety of the students and faculty members. The College runs 85 buses and these buses are operated in 14 different routes for providing transport facility to students and faculty members from various places in and around the Coimbatore district. The onward journey and return journey of the buses will be intimated in the form of circulars to the students and faculty members. This transport facility is also used for various educational purposes like field trips, industrial visits and off-campus placement drives.
