Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HiCET), Coimbatore,  one of the leading Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu was established in the year 2000 by the great Industrialist and Philanthropist, Shri. T.S.R. Khannaiyann, under the aegis of Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust (1992). The Founder & Chairman the Trust whose determination and dynamism made possible the realization of this institution of excellence,  occupies a prime place in the chronicle of the Institution.  The Trust was entrusted to serve humanity, especially the youth and is being fulfilled through the Hindusthan Educational Institutions.   Smt. T.R.K. Sarasuwathi, Secretary of the Trust is also doubling as the Chairman of the HiCET.

The Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology is located in a huge and beautiful 200 acre Campus at Hicet, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The nearest railway station is Podanur Junction which is about 11 km from the HiCET, and the TNSTC Bus Depot is 18 km away from the college. The college is about 29 km away from Coimbatore International Airport. The college is easily accessible by road transport.  Surrounded by nature's pristine beauty and an excellent infrastructure coupled with dedicated and experienced faculty has made the campus is a much sought-after abode of learning.

HiCET, Coimbatore is an AICTE-approved, Autonomous College in affiliation with Anna University.   The college is accredited with an ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).  The institution is recognized under Section 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 2021, Outlook ranked HICET, 37th among the Top Engineering Institutions in South Zone (India).  

HiCET, Coimbatore offers 20+ programs at UG and PG level across the streams of Engineering, Technology and IT covering several specializations. Popular courses offered by thiscollege are B.E. / B.Tech , MBA/PGDM.  The UG courses are available in 15 different specialisations. The duration of HICET Coimbatore BE and BTech programme is 4 years. PG courses are offered in MCA, MBA and ME. The admission for UG courses are done through the TNEA exam. MBA admission requires a valid score of TANCET/ CET / MAT while MCA admission is based on TANCET / CET scores.

The 265+Teaching faculty of HiCET, Coimbatore teach and guide the students both in academics as well as personal development.  Their experience and expertise help students to equip themselves with all the knowledge and information required to make them Industry-ready and ensure they are ready to face the global challenges once they complete their courses and go out into the real world.

Facilities at HiCET campus are developed to provide its 4600 odd students with every need at one place.  Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology has a lively campus providing facilities such as Library, Canteen, Hostel (separate for Boys & Girls), Wifi, Bank and ATM, Transport, Gym, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Placement Cell.  Both academic and extracurricular facilities are offered to the students at HiCET Coimbatore.  College management looks after the maintenance around the campus.

The Training and Placement Cell at the Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology undertake placement activity in the campus. The T&P cell assists with summer internship and final placement.  A few recruiters that hire from the campus include brands such as Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, Ford, DELL, HP and many more. Training and placement teams provide services such as Careers Development and Counselling.  

The Incubation Centre and Start Up service at Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology encourages and promotes Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurial activities in Technology-based areas.  It provides a platform for start-ups by young entrepreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products.  It also provides services related to Patenting and Commercialization.

HiCET, Coimbatore, with its progressive thought to provide industry-ready engineering education to students, has set up a Centre of Excellence within the campus. i) Selection Procedure

The selection committee constituted by Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology as per the guidelines of the Institution will do selection of the candidates under this scheme. The selection is purely provisional and always subject to the confirmation from the Anna University / Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.

BE/BTech Degree Programme - First Year

Based on the cut off marks from the higher secondary (10+2) examination.

Cut off mark = 200 (100 for Mathematics and 100 for Physics + Chemistry)

BE/BTech Degree Programme - Direct Second Year Lateral Entry

Based on the percentage marks obtained in the Diploma (10+3/12+2) examination.

ME/MTech Degree Programme

Based on the entrance (TANCET / CET / GATE) marks conducted by the Anna University & Association of Management of Coimbatore Anna University Affiliated Colleges

Scholarships

Government Scholarships

The Tamil Nadu Government has developed a brand-new programme called the Tamil Nadu Scholarship. The TN Scholarship was established with the primary goal of giving students financial aid so they could pursue their academic dreams without worrying about costs. These awards will help the kids financially while also raising their standard of living and educational opportunities. All interested candidates must go to the appropriate department of the scholarships in order to take advantage of the numerous programmes offered under the  Tamil Nadu scholarship.

The Government provides funding for the central government scholarships. Students of Indian citizens can apply for these scholarships. Some of the Government agencies are also offer scholarships. Similar to the Central Government, the Governments of many states provide scholarships to students who are citizens of those states

Institutional Scholarships

The administration of Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology provides students with free tuition in addition to scholarships in a range of categories, including merit scholarships, employee scholarships, talent test scholarships, and sports scholarships.

Students that perform well on their board exam in the 12th grade are given merit scholarships. Children of Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust (HCET) staff are also eligible for scholarships, as are students who have already attended a Hindusthan Group institutions.

At Hindusthan, we think that a little encouragement may go a long way in motivating children to show off their talent, gain praise, and get their minds ready for larger goals in the future. A unique programme called the talent test scholarship is intended to motivate students to compete for scholarships and fee waivers based on their performance on the yearly talent test administered by the Hindusthan Group of Institutions.

The institution also offers a fantastic financial aid programme in the form of sports scholarships to help aspiring athletes who have competed for their school at the collegiate, state, national, and international levels of competition. The scholarship is extended to the succeeding academic years as long as the students maintain a minimum attendance rate of 60%, have no outstanding debts, and are properly verified by the Hindusthan Group of Institutions' Physical Education Director.

NGO Scholarships

In order to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Hindusthan College of Engineering, eligible students from low social economic backgrounds can also apply for sponsorships from a variety of non-profit and private welfare organisations, such as Shanthi Social Services (SSS), Agaram Foundation, Gandhiji Memorial Foundation, Moovar Nattukottai Settiyar Scholarship, Nalavariam scheme, Sitaram Jindal Foundation, etc

Library:

The Library is stocked with an excellent collection of engineering, science, social science, and management books, articles, engrossing autobiographies and biographies, e-reference sources, national and international journals, and magazines, etc., to enkindle the knowledge of the students.

Hostel:

The College has fully furnished separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. It provides ample services to students to feel comfortable and get away from homesickness. The lively ambiance of the hostel makes the students enjoy the spirit of learning. Necessary care has been taken to provide hygienic and healthy food as per the wish of the students. Students can contact Grievance cell members to address their grievances. Contentment and Security of the students are the most important concern for the college. The hostel wardens give good attention to every detail because they are present around the clock. Hence, a hostel at the Hindusthan campus can be called a home away from Home.

• Sports:

  "Sports are the greatest physical Poetry," to make the lines true, the college has rendered extensive playgrounds, play courts, and ultra-modern sports equipment to the students to distinguish themselves in creating history. Astonishing, elegant play courts are there for playing table tennis and basketball. An Indoor stadium is also available for playing indoor sports like Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, and Chess. Individual/martial sports like Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo, and Silambam are also encouraged on our campus. Apart from these ample facilities, praiseworthy direction, inspiration, and coaching are given by the Director of Physical Education towards the participation of students in various Inter-Collegiate, Inter-Zonal, State, and National level tournaments in a splendid manner.

  Cafeteria:

  As per the saying, 'you don't need a silver spoon to eat good food,' the cafeteria on the campus provides hygienic, quality, and tasty food adding to the living and learning experience of the students, faculty members, and visitors. The available cafeterias on the campus are Foody, Kerala Cafe, Munch Box, Swathi Cafe, Parambariya Samayal, and Coffee Day. Students immensely love these places because the spacious and trendy cafeterias sharpen the taste buds of the students and teachers. At times, it becomes the meeting place for students and teachers to exchange intellectual, humorous, and thought-provoking conversations.

About Transport

Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology facilitates well-organized transport amenities that ensure the safety of the students and faculty members. The College runs 85 buses and these buses are operated in 14 different routes for providing transport facility to students and faculty members from various places in and around the Coimbatore district. The onward journey and return journey of the buses will be intimated in the form of circulars to the students and faculty members. This transport facility is also used for various educational purposes like field trips, industrial visits and off-campus placement drives.
