The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary’s congregation was founded in the year 1844 at Pondicherry by Rev.Fr. Louis Savinien Dupuis, MEP a French missionary. From the beginning, the congregation aims at liberating the illiterate womenfolk from various types of social injustice. We the sisters are deeply committed to the motto of the congregation “Sanctification and Empowerment of Women”, in the field of education. Initially the Congregation administered primary schools, Middle High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools. Apart from these schools, progressively it has started running Technical and Teacher Training Institutions, Community Colleges, Arts and Science Colleges, Engineering College, School of Nursing and College of Education. The prime objective of starting these institutions is to provide opportunities for women towards their social and economical self-reliance and their dignity thereby empowering their status in the society.

This college is a long cherished dream of the Diocese of Vellore. When the proposal of starting a college in Pudupalayam was made by the Diocese of Vellore, we, the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (FIHM) accepted it gladly. We have been working for the development of the womenfolk of this area, from 2004 with a humble beginning.

The foundation stone was laid on 24th July 2004. The college building came up very beautifully within a year and the college was commenced on 30th July 2004 with 60 students. Every year the college is progressing to a great extent. Many more departments were started and the avenues are expanded for the development of women with competent and eligible faculty. The students have invariably excelled in the University examinations. We feel extremely happy and privileged to say that the colleges has obtained and achieved University ranks and Gold Medals in UG and PG level. The management takes constant effort to offer a feasible environment and adequate infrastructure to facilitate the teaching-learning process. This College comprises with well-furnished and ventilated class rooms, library and laboratories. It provides various amenities like women’s hostel, transportation to enhance women in all dimensions. The college is a blessing to the women folk of the surrounding remote villages. We thank God for the dedicated management, committed service of the faculty and the great achievements of the students to build better society.

6 B.Com General 12th pass with commerce/accountancy with minimum 50% of marks. Diploma in commerce/diploma in modern office practice(3 years course)
7 B.A. English Literature 12th pass with English with minimum 50% of marks.

Placements: Almost 95% of students got placed in this course. Around 55% of students got internships in our course. The top roles offered were software developer and data entry. The salary package was decent. All the software companies visited our college for recruitment.

Girls Hostel
The college has a girl’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

Library
The College has a spacious and fully equipped library with more than 10,000 books covering all major fields of Arts and science. It is fully computerized which enables the students and the faculty to avail the documents and sources without any difficulty. It has an Internet, Reprography, Back volumes, Projects, CD-ROM and E–Resources collections, and a reference section facility for the staff and the students. Book Bank facility for deserving candidates is also being maintained. The College also subscribes to the major online journals. Computers with internet connectivity help the students and the faculty members to access the e-sources to update their subject knowledge.
