Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Trichy (IIMT)

  The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (also known as IIM,Trichy or IIMT) is an Autonomous Public Business School located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu in India. The eleventh IIM, it was instituted on 4 January 2011.  Tiruchirappalli is a city known for its prominence in education, spirituality, art and culture and IIM Trichy tends to benefit from this.

  IIM, Trichy is functioning from its sprawling state-of-the-art campus spread over 175 acres of land on Trichy-Pudukottai highway, about 11 km from Tiruchirappalli International Airport.   The 584 crore  state-of-the-art campus consists of student hostels, faculty residences, a library, recreational facilities and Executive Residences.  IIM Tiruchirappalli set up a satellite campus at Chennai in the year 2012 for executive education. 

 IIM Trichy offers a two-year full-time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), a two-year Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) for working executives at Chennai campus, and a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) for Doctor of Business Administration candidates. In the year 2020, IIM Trichy launched a Post Graduate Programme in Human Resources Management (PGPM-HR) at its Trichy campus.

  The admission for the two-year full-time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and Post Graduate Programme in Human Resources Management (PGPM-HR) is through the Common Admission Test (CAT) scores followed by the Common Admission Process (CAP), where the 10 new and baby IIMs take part. The CAP consists of a written-ability test (WAT) followed by an interview. Based on the past academic performances, work experience, CAT scores and CAP scores, students are offered admission into this programs.

Students are selected after a thorough screening process and IIMT takes excellent care in ensuring an optimal student-teacher ratio to encourage better learning and to impart appropriate guidance.

 IIM Tiruchirappalli was ranked 18 in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) management school ranking of 2022.  Outlook India (2022) ranked the institute 7th among Government colleges.  

 IIMT hosts several yearly events. Dhruva is a cultural and management fest held in the second half of the month of October. E-Summit is an entrepreneurial summit held in the month of November. HR Conclave is an industry-academia interaction event focused on Human Resources. Other events include Sanskriti - an annual war of sections, Sangram - an inter-IIM sports meet, and Kurukshetra - an inter-section sports tournament.

  IIM Trichy is considered the best among the New IIMS . Every year the institute witnesses 100% placement, and there is a constant rise in the average salary package offered. The average salary package offered during Placement 2023 was 20.55 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 41.61 LPA.

  Admission to the MBA at IIM Trichy is through the CAT exam. Shortlisted candidates also have to go through an interview round. For the final selection, a composite scorecard (with appropriate weights) is compiled based on three parameters: CAT score, PI round performance, and profile evaluation.

Hostels
  The Institute has six student hostel blocks designed with an eye for elegance, utility and a scenic view of the skyline. Each hostel block has 3 floors with 18 rooms on each floor branching into the left and right wings at a passage with the common room on one side and the lift on the other. While lady students are accommodated in a hostel block dedicated to themselves and Differently Abled students in specialised rooms and attached bathrooms on the ground floor, the flawless architecture ensures co-learning.
  The LAN connections in all the hostel facilitate the rigorous computing needs of the students, even as the Mess and the Canteen Block, which houses the night canteen, a sandwich Bar and Departmental Stores is a stone’s throw away from the Hostels.
The entrance to each hostel conjures the view of brightly painted doors in the galleries to perhaps represent the incredible diversity in learning from peers. The single occupancy rooms are tastefully furnished with Air Conditioners, White Boards and a swanky study to complement the private balcony which overlooks an artificial canal. Two common washroom wings on each floor are similarly fitted keeping the millennial needs in mind.

Sports Facility

  IIM Tiruchirappalli has always believed in providing a conducive environment for the all-round development of students. The sports facilities launched at the new permanent campus is a fitting testament to the high standards set. The state-of-the-art sporting facilities range from a full-size football ground, cricket ground, a new sports complex that houses multiple badminton courts, gymnasium, a swimming pool with jacuzzi, and equipment for a wide range of indoor sports, to the basketball, volleyball courts and facilities for various other outdoor sports.

  The swimming pool area, which includes a kid's pool and a jacuzzi along with a dedicated TT room with synthetic flooring was recently opened for use. The work on rest of the facilities is expected to be completed shortly which would signal the full operationality of the sports complex.
