Rev. Fr. Louis savenien Dupuis, the honourable founder of th the Congregation, was blossomed on 18 August 1806. He was brought up by his parents with exemplary codes of Conduct and good behavior. Amicability was his in-born nature. He dedicated himself enthusiastically to serve God. He sensibly studied and realized that enlightening the womenfolk will surely lead to the development of a family, house village, town, city and even the universe.So he intended to form a women congregation, to facilitate the welfare of the women folk, consequently the immaculate Heart of Mary th congregation, Pondicherry, was founded on 16 October 1844. This fervent desire was to make an ignorant woman literate in order to empower the family and the society. More and more schools flourished and permeated in all the downtrodden and educationally backward villages.

After the triumphant service of 150 years in the schools, the congregation established colleges to facilitate higher education for the suppressed women folk. Immaculate college for women, Viriyur is one of his cherished dreams. It was founded on 15 July 2003 with only 63 students. Now with 900 students the college is stepping into eleventh year (2013-2014). May his dreams, vision and charism be lived forever.

True to its name Immaculate which means ‘purity’, Immaculate College of Arts & Science is an institution with a social concern and virtue, which will address the problem of humanity through teaching and guiding the students.

The students and faculty of Immaculate college of Arts & Science will be imbibed with spiritual discernment and zeal to serve humanity and to eventually become leaders of the society.

To raise undergraduate, postgraduate students to high levels of academic excellence, professional competence and spiritual enrichment to serve humanity with compassion and exemplary values.

To flourish the society we focus the marginalized women into the professionally best resource persons and the ordinary women into the extra ordinary society builders. Thus our mission is highly provoked to promote academic excellence, widen intellectual horizons; inculcate self – discipline and high ideals for the holistic development of the individual.

Training and Placement Cell

The Training & Placement Cell (T&P Cell) of Immaculate College for Women, is to provide students with variety of career progression opportunities and to train the students with all the employability skills necessary to excel in the corporate sector.

T&P Cell of the Institute has a designated Placement Officer and placement coordinators from various departments. The Cell coordinates with HR departments of various Corporates/MNCs and organizes recruitment at the college campus. The Cell provides complete support to the visiting companies at every stage of placement process.

Objectives:
· To groom students with competencies and employability skills to satisfy corporate expectations and place them in

reputed companies.

· To mentor students in developing employability skills and job-search techniques necessary to reach their career objectives.

· To provide periodic updates on market trends to students to help them get ready for what the industry is expecting.

· To enhance student’s interest in entrepreneurship and start-ups.

· Motivating students to aspire for higher studies and guiding them to take up competitive exams.

· Links students, corporates and alumni.

Functions:
· Collection of data of the students and companies, maintaining and updating the database

· Preparing eligible pool of students of different disciplines

· Gathering and disseminating information about job-fairs and employment opportunities

· Notifying the students about pre-placement activities, job opportunities and campus drive through notice boards 
        
· Organising campus recruitment training programme

· Networking with leading companies for internships and campus drive

· Organising on and off campus drive

· Conducting career guidance sessions

· Collecting feedback from the recruiters and students
