About IIIT Dharwad

IIIT Dharwad is an Institute of National Importance set up in 2015 in Public-Private-Partnership mode between the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Government of Karnataka and industry partner Keonics under an Act of Parliament (23 of 2017). The primary objective of setting up IIIT-Dharwad is to address the skill gap in high-end information technology and thereby enable India to retain its global leadership role in IT and allied areas. Towards this end, IIIT-Dharwad offers BTech degree programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. As an Institute of National Importance, IIIT-Dharwad focuses on applying IT to solve problems of social relevance to India – the kind of solutions that do not usually result from the commercial forces of market dynamics or the priorities of the Western world outside of India. At the same time, IIIT-Dharwad also adopts a semi-modern theme in its campus design and approach to solving IT problems.

IIIT Dharwad Admission Process

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad, which was established in 2015, offers Bachelor of Technology and Doctoral Course degree programmes. Admissions to BTech is made through JoSAA counselling process on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in Joint Entrance Exam, i.e. JEE Main. PhD admissions are based on merit and interviews conducted by the institute. Before applying for admissions, candidates must necessarily meet the eligibility criteria set by the institute, which is required for admission process and selection.

Candidates who wish to apply for admission to the IIIT Dharwad course have to fill the JEE Main application form 2024 and appear for the counselling process conducted by JoSAA/CSAB 2024. The candidates allotted to IIIT Dharwad must fill out the application form for document verification and pay the acceptance fee.

Admission for programs at IIIT Dharwad in 2024 is based on the JEE Main Score. Admissions to all the courses at IIIT Dharwad are done through national-level exams. Candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria and appear for the exam. The NTA JEE Mains 2024 Exam Date April session will be held from April 1 to April 15, 2024. IIIT Dharwad Placements
Established in the year 2015, the Indian Institute Of Information Technology Dharwad is a new and premier engineering college. To date, the college has held two placement drives in the year 2019 and 2020. The college has a career guidance cell that is there to help the students to get placed. IIIT Dharwad Placement Cell trains and guides the students to make them industry ready and also counsel them to reach for better opportunities. In these two years, the company has brought various multinational companies to their campus for campus recruitment.

Stage 1: IIIT Dharwad Placement Cell approaches various companies for finding placement opportunities. The faculty and coordinator talk to the companies and their recruitment departments and invite them for placement drive.
Stage 2: Those companies, who accept the invitation, discuss their job description and their requirements with the career guidance cell. They also fix the placement drive date and time.
Stage 3: The students are notified of the details of the upcoming placement drive. They are provided with a student recruitment form on the college portal. The students will have to register their name and their details with the CGC.
Stage 4: The company will arrive at the college on the notified date and time and will hold a pre-placement talk with the students. Then the entire process of test and interview will take place.
Stage 5: On the very same day, the company will announce the names of the selected students. In case of not announcing the name on the same day, the students will be allowed to appear in other placements. However, if the name of a student is selected for a position, then they will not be allowed to appear in any other placement.
Stage 6: The offer letter should be provided to the career guidance cell by the company to be given to the students. The companies are not allowed to give the offer letter directly to the candidate.

As per the placement data provided by the IIIT Dharwad Placement Cell, there is a significant rise in the number of placements in 2020 as compared to 2019. Also, the average salary per annum offered to the students is more along with the highest salary package. The institute helps the students find good job offers and is also active in providing the students with better internship opportunities. Every year for the summer internship program, the students are sent to various educational institutes and companies to learn new tools and technologies.

Placement Procedure

• The CGC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and communicating with companies/organizations to seek placement/internship opportunities.
• An SRF (Student Recruitment Form) has been made available on the web portal to ensure seamless communication between the institution and the companies/organizations.
• The companies/organizations provide their JDs (Job Descriptions) along with the details of the job offer (pay package, location, allowances and other bonuses) and the
preferred dates of the campus visits in the SRF.
• Companies visit the campus on the allotted date(s) and conduct PPTs (Pre-Placement Talks), tests and/or interviews in accordance with their recruitment processes.
• The company/organization is required to furnish the final list of selected students preferably on the same day of the campus visit to CGC.
• In case the company/organisation is unable to declare the result on the same day, then the student is allowed to participate in other recruitment processes & the final decision
will depend upon who declares the result first.
• The purview of the CGC is restricted to the offers made as part of the campus placement process only.
• The company shall route the offer letters to the students through the CGC and not directly to the students.

IIT Dharwad - Indian Institute of Technology Scholarships and Funding

Institute provides scholarships under the following three categories:

1. Merit-cum-Means (MCM) to the max. 25% of students
Eligible category: Gen/ OBC-NCL/ EWS
Benefits: Tuition Fee refund & Rs.1,000/- per month.

2. Free Messing (for all eligible students)
Eligible category: SC/ST
Benefits: Mess Advance waiver & Rs.250/- per month

3. Remission of Fee (for all eligible students):
Eligible category: Gen/ OBC-NCL/ EWS
Benefits: Full or partial remission of tuition fee

IIIT Dharwad Scholarship
Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad provides its students with scholarships as per the national and state government schemes. The institute is nationally-funded; therefore, they do not have any in-house scholarship. Instead, students will have to apply for the scholarship through the government scholarship portals within the given time limit. The students are then given the scholarship as per their eligibility, meeting the criteria, and their financial background. B. Tech. Students can also apply for financial aid as a student's loan from the central government banks before admission. The scholarship schemes are there for both B. Tech. and PhD students.
Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad is a nationally-funded college, and that is why the students cannot receive scholarships from the college directly. For the students to get the scholarship, they need to apply for national or state level scholarship schemes. The B. Tech. students will be granted a scholarship as fee reimbursement, maintenance fee, special allowance, hostel fee allowance, books allowance, etc.

· Central scholarships: The central scholarships are provided to the students who are meritorious and come from the economically weaker background.
· State scholarships: These scholarships are provided by the Karnataka government, and these are also reserved for merit earning students, minorities, and students with disabilities.

Library: The IIT Dharwad library’s octagonal design, plentiful natural light, and pleasant wind make readers feel at ease. It has high-quality furniture and fixtures. It also has a climate control system. It contains two rooms on either side of the entryway and the main area. There are research careers in one room for serious study. Apart from some reading space, another room houses the books. The reading space can accommodate up to 100 people. Nearly 4750 books in various fields make up the collection. These are organised by subject. It has also obtained a few digital ISO (International Standards Organization) standards. The IIT Dharwad also houses a dedicated photocopying facility. Plans for installing good library management software are underway and implementing modern technologies such as RFID etc., in the IIT Dharwad library.

Hostel: IIT Dharwad hostel offers accommodation to students. The rooms are quite large. There is a separate toilet in each room. In the hostel, there is a separate dining hall and recreational amenities. Students have access to the internet as well. IIT Dharwad campus has a well-equipped dining hall operational at the gymkhana. A second students mess will be ready soon. Students come from approximately 20 states around the country, providing a diverse learning environment.
