Introduction
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.

As a unique initiative in science education in India, IISER aims to be a Science University of the highest caliber devoted to both teaching and research in a totally integrated manner, with state-of-the-art research and high quality education, thus nurturing both curiosity and creativity.

IISER Pune runs a 5-year integrated Master's programme, which is the BS-MS programme, and a post-Master's PhD programme, in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. Apart from classroom instruction, IISER Pune builds student skills in areas such as scientific inquiry, problem solving, communication skills, computational sciences, electronics and instrumentation and workshop practices. In the advanced teaching and research labs of the institute, students have the opportunity to pursue experiments as well as advanced research under the mentorship of world-class faculty. IISER Pune offers dual degree BS-MS, Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D programmes.

Admission to BS-MS degree programs are done through 3 channels: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), JEE Advanced and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB).
Candidates applying through KVPY channel must have a valid score in 10+2.
A valid JEE Advanced rank is required for applying through JEE Advanced channel.
Selection through SCB channel is done based on the IISER Admission Test (IAT) conducted by the institute itself.
Admissions to Ph.D programmes are done on the basis of CSIR-UGC NET/ GATE/ JEST/ NBHM/ JGEEBILS/ INSPIRE Ph.D. Scholarship.
Candidates having IISER BS-MS dual degree with CGPA equal to or greater than 8.0 are also provided admission in Ph.D. programme.
For Integrated Ph.D. (i-Ph.D.), the institute considers JAM/ JEST/ NBHM (for Mathematics) scores.
The final selection to Ph.D. and i-Ph.D. is based on the performance in Personal Interview.

Career Development and Placement Cell (CDPC) at IISER Pune offers an array of services to support student success and well-being. At the CDPC, we help navigate the career trajectory of students through various activities and develop students' employability as well as technical and academic skills.

The CDPC aims to:

Help students identify and articulate their core career interests, skills, and strengths, and in turn, expand their career horizon
Guide them on how to make a start, revisit and reflect on their career ideas

The Career Development Centre (CDC) is the cell that assists IISER Pune students in their career planning, job search strategies, locate opportunities, internships, career exploration and related opportunities. IISER Pune placements are carried out by the Career Development Centre of the institute. The CDC aims for the overall development of the students and to shape their careers. The main objectives of the Career Development Centre are: provide full-time job and internship in campus opportunities to students who are seeking job opportunities and to guide students to prepare them for the world of work.
he steps for conducting the annual placement drive at IISER are described below.

First, the IISER placement cell sends invitations and all relevant details for the placement drive to the enterprises and organisations.
Employers must complete the job application if they want to recruit students.
Pre-placement discussions will occur on specific days after negotiations between the institute and the firms are finished.
Interested students are asked to apply for the organisations participating in the IISER placements.
The recruiting organisations will make job offers after completing the selection procedure by qualified students.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune offers various scholarships to students to pursue their education without any hurdles. The details regarding the IISER Pune scholarships are given below.

Scholars admitted under the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana would get fellowships based on KVPY guidelines.
Furthermore, the Department of Science and Technology offers a restricted number of INSPIRE scholarships of Rs.5000 per month to candidates admitted through the JEE and SCB routes that meet the DST's criteria.
The scholarship is not available to students enrolled in the BS degree in Engineering or Economics.

The IISER Pune library has an extensive collection of electronic and print reference books, textbooks, and research publications. It also includes full-text databases, abstracting and indexing databases, and multimedia resources.
e-ShodhSindhu — a national consortium for higher education e-resources, is responsible for a substantial portion of the journal and online resource subscriptions.
The library services are fully automated with RFID technology and a biometric user verification system. The library's Digital Repository (DR) provides a platform for the IISER Pune community to share their research work with the rest of the world.

Hostel

IISER Pune hostel offers accommodation to boys and girls separately.
Water, electricity, and a fire suppression system are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The rooms are well-ventilated, with complete furnishings, bed, and mattress. Toilet and bathroom facilities with hot and cold water are available.
Students can use the common, TV, and assembly rooms on separate floors.
Internet access is available in the common areas. Each floor is equipped with enough drinking RO water.
Each floor contains a washing machine for washing clothes.
Outsourced caterers provide food and refreshments.

Sports and Gymnasium

There are playgrounds for outdoor sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, handball, cricket, and indoor sports such as table tennis and badminton. It also has a gymnasium and a music room with enough instruments and equipment.
More than 500 students compete in the Kreeda Jung, which is becoming known as IISER Pune's premier sports competition. The games are now held once a year. The Sports Club is Kreeda Jung's regulating organisation.
Medical Services: Doctors and paramedical workers provide normal and emergency medical care at the wellness Clinic (nurses). General and sports medicine are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. First Aid Boxes are available at about 60 locations spread over the campus.

Security: Security personnel patrol the entire campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Identity cards are given to students and employees. The ports of entry and exit are carefully controlled. The walls of the compound are in good condition.

IT Infrastructure

The IISER Pune facilities include a campus-wide network with an aggregated data exchange of about 20 TB/day, servicing over 3000 active devices that are secure and protected endpoints.
A complete and balanced IT policy is followed continuously.
A seamless dual band (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) campus-wide Wi-Fi access network that adheres to 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards
Outdoor Wi-Fi zones have been established at various points throughout the campus to ensure continuous internet availability.
A 1G fibre backbone connects the core switch to the distribution and access switches, resulting in a campus-wide Local Area Network with over 8000 wired network access ports.
A voice over IP infrastructure with a capacity of 1000 lines and 600 phones are available.

Guest House and Convention Centre

The IISER Pune campus has a guesthouse that can also be used as a mini-convention centre.
There are 47 double rooms, 48 single rooms with air conditioning, two suites, one VIP room, four 1BHK units, and one 2 BHK unit. On the first level of the guesthouse building is a multipurpose hall with complete audio-visual aids and a public address system. It can accommodate up to 200 people. All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with a projector, green/whiteboards, and panelled walls. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a big dining hall that might be used for conferences on the ground floor.
Guests can use the IISER Pune gym, which has the latest workout equipment and accessories.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the guesthouse's lounge, located on the ground level.
The dining hall complex has an ATM from the State Bank of India. A general store within the campus sells everyday toiletries, stationery, and photocopying and printing services.

Women Lounge: IISER Pune has a lounge for pregnant or nursing mothers, disabled people. It is open to all women, including faculty, employees, and students in an emergency or illness. There are two rooms available, each with its bathroom. Beds, a table and chair, and cupboards are provided. There is also a spacious shared sitting area with a sofa set. There is Wi-Fi in the neighbourhood and a phone line that can be used to make emergency calls.

Day Care

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune infrastructure has a daycare that is open Monday to Friday (9 am to 6:30 pm) and Saturdays (9 am to 4:30 pm).
The emergency daycare fees must be paid by parents who want to use the service on a one-time basis. Different activities are planned for various age groups.
Throughout the day, breakfast, lunch, and snacks are available.
