The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is one among the eighth newer second generation of IITs. IIT Mandi is a research university now located in Kamand Valley, Mandi city in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

IIT Mandi's campus (about 14 km from Mandi) is on the left bank of the Uhl River at Kamand and Salgi villages. There is great variation in the climatic conditions of Himachal due to extreme variation in elevation. The climate varies from hot and sub-humid tropical in the southern tracts to cold, alpine and glacial in the northern and eastern mountain ranges with more elevation.

Mandi has an average elevation of 1044 meters (3425 feet) and is situated on the banks of Beas. Mandi town falls in the lower most climatic zone of the Himalayas. These regions enjoys a wet-sub temperate climate of the foot hills (450-900 meters) as against the dry-cold alpine climate with snowfall at higher altitudes (2400-4800 meters). Average annual rainfall of Mandi is 1380 mm.

Since its inception the institute has been involved with various Research and Development (R&D) projects, the institute has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with many International and National universities, Companies, Research Centres, Organizations.

The institute became an IIT under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011, with the intention to expand the reach and to enhance the quality of technical education in the country. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012.IIT Mandi Placement 2025 report is currently unavailable. Admission Procedure

IIT Mandi Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 50 courses offered at IIT Mandi. The courses are offered disciplines like Management, Arts, Engineering, Science. Admission Criteria

B.Tech Admission

IIT Mandi offers admission to different specializations in B.Tech. Admission to the B.Tech is based on the candidate performance in the JEE Advanced exam, followed by JoSAA counselling.

PhD Admission

IIT Mandi offers PhD programs across various specializations with a first-year fee of INR 57,650. The table below contains all the details of PhD.

Eligibility:

• Must have passed 10+2 (Academic stream) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.

Facilities Offered @ Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi

To facilitate the lodging & dining services for the guests arriving at IIT-Mandi campus, guest house services are provided in both the campuses. The main guest house is named after the great Indian scientist and Nobel laureate Sir. C. V. Raman and is situated in the North campus. In the South campus Manirang apartment (two accommodations) and a smaller semi-furnished guest house with three rooms (Uhl guest house) are available.

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is situated on the lap of nature over the lush green mountains covered with Pine trees and varieties of flora and fauna. River Uhl & tributary of river Beas flows along the South & North campus respectively.Both the campuses are bestowed with an excellent panoramic view of the Himalayas, rivers, flora and fauna with a peaceful atmosphere surrounded with greenery and the pleasant sound of the river. The campus is far away from the city hustle & bustle which provides an ideal place for young and innovative minds to carry on their studies and research works.

South campus is situated near village Kamand & North campus is near village Salgi in Mandi tehsil of district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh. The campus is connected to Mandi town through well maintained road. Campus is approximately 18 kms. from Mandi town.C. V. Raman guest house at North campus has dining service which provides buffet style food arrangement. This dining area can easily accommodate & provide 50 cover sit-down meal services to the guests during breakfast, lunch & dinner.
C. V. Raman guest house dining also serves light snacks to the guests other than meal timings on request during the day.

• Though campus is in a hilly area, IIT Mandi provides internal transport services for students and staff (shuttles between campus blocks, hostels, labs, etc.).
