The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is a leading graduate school of management in Asia. Under the IIM Act of 2017, IIMB is an Institute of National Importance.

IIMB has 109 full-time faculty members, about 1,200 students across various degree-granting programmes and nearly 5,000 annual Executive Education participants.

Our long-duration programmes comprise the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), the Post Graduate Programme in Management – Business Analytics (PGP-BA), the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), and the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM).

We offer the NS Ramaswamy Pre-doctoral (NSR Pre-doc) Fellowship, as a Certificate programme, with the aim of increasing social diversity of management academia in India.

We also offer the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) programme. MGNF is a Certificate Programme in Public Policy and Management offered by IIMs. It has been designed at the initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GoI), and implemented in collaboration with State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs).

Along with 11 disciplinary areas, we have ten centres of excellence that offer courses and conduct research on interesting questions facing various sectors of industry.

We have key partnerships and collaborations with Goldman Sachs and Kotak Bank for women entrepreneurship, with Michael and Susan Dell Foundation for incubation of non-profits, and with NITI Aayog for scaling up of new ventures.

We are committed to make deep social impact using technology-enabled education. Towards this end, we offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). We are the first management school in India to offer MOOCs on the edX platform. We are also the coordinating institute for management education for SWAYAM, GoI’s online education platform.

We have taken several steps to meet the vision set for IIMB. We were accredited by the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) for a period of five years in 2016. EQUIS is a global school accreditation system run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) that specializes in higher education institutions of management and business administration. OUR MISSION

The mission of the Supply Chain Management Centre is to bring together practitioners from leading organizations and IIMB faculty and students to identify, document, research, develop and disseminate best practices in Supply Chain Management.

The admissions department follows a well-defined and detailed admission process which judges candidates on a number of parameters since empirical research on recruitment and selection shows the efficacy of multiple criteria.

IIMB has found over the years that students who perform well in the academic programme are typically those who have a consistently good academic record during their school, high school and graduation level, besides exhibiting sufficiently high aptitude as measured by CAT (Common Admission Test if the IIMs)/GMAT. Therefore IIMB uses multiple parameters, namely academic performance in school, high school and graduation programmes as well as candidate’s scores in CAT/GMAT to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP programme. Relevant work experience, if any, is also given weightage. The CAT/GMAT score, over and above being a selection criterion, is also used to establish the minimum level of proficiency that is expected from the candidate in respective faculties as indicated by section-wise minimum scores in the CAT/GMAT. Multiple criteria are used to arrive at a composite score for every candidate, which is used to select candidates for the subsequent stage.

Thus the CAT/GMAT score is one of the more important parameters. The CAT/GMAT score that is used as a cutoff varies from year to year. The admission process includes a personal interview, conducted through remote video conferencing for international students, and an assessment of writing ability.

There are two channels for admissions to the PGP: one for domestic candidates and the other for International candidates. The admission requirements and application processes for each channel are different.

Domestic Admissions are based on the applications received through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in November every year at various centers in India. Domestic candidates are Indian nationals or foreigners normally resident in India who are in a position to take the CAT. Short-listed candidates attend a written test and personal interview, and provide two letters of reference from persons who know them closely in terms of their academic/professional performance. The final selection is based on the CAT performance, Scholastic Achievement, Work Experience, performance in the Writing Ability Test, and Interview.

International Admissions

International Admissions: International candidates are admitted through direct applications. International candidates are Indian nationals or foreigners with valid passport or travel document residing outside India and not in a position to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management at various centers in India. These candidates are required to have a valid Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score and have an official result reported to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Final selection is based on performance in GMAT, Scholastic Achievement, Work Experience, performance in the Writing Ability Test, and Interview.

IIM Bangalore Admission to International Students
International candidates are admitted directly. For IIM Bangalore admission, international candidates need to have a valid GMAT score. They have to send the official copy of their GMAT score to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The institute selects the final candidates based on performance in the GMAT, past academic excellence, work experience, performance in the WAT, and the PI.

SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to the Financial Aid, which is provided purely on the basis of financial need, PGP students also receive several Merit based or Merit-cum-Need based scholarships as detailed below:

1. Aditya Birla Scholarship: This merit-based scholarship is given to PGP students of both the first and the second years. The students who are granted the scholarship during the first year are eligible to apply for renewal in the second year, provided they belong to the top 25% of the batch in the first year. The scholarship amount is INR 1.75 lakh per student.

2. OPJEMS Scholarship: This merit-based scholarship is given to PGP students of second year. The first ten toppers of the second year, based on the academic performance in the first year, are eligible to apply. On the basis of an online test conducted by OP Jindal Group, one student of each academic year will be awarded. The scholarship amount is INR 1.50 lakh.

3. NTPC Scholarship Scheme: The scholarship amounts to INR 48,000 per year. Students who belong to SC/ST/PwD categories and are in their second year of management studies, having passed the first-year examination in one attempt, are eligible for the scholarship.

4. Employment in Social Sector Scholarship: This scholarship reimburses the recipient one-third of the fees at the end of each year of work for the first three years in the social sector.

5. Ministry of Tribal Affairs Scholarship (ST): The Ministry of Tribal affairs, Government of India, invites applications for the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Tribe students of PGP first year. This is a means scholarship that covers tuition expenses in full.

6. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Scholarship (SC): The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, invites applications for the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Caste students from Meritorious SC students PGP first year. This is a means scholarship that covers tuition expenses in full.

7. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Persons with Disabilities (PwD): A person with disability having not less than 40% disability and having a disability certificate issued by any competent medical authority. This is a means scholarship of INR 255,000 per year.

Apart from the above scholarships, students can also apply for other State Government Scholarships routed through financial aid and scholarship office.

Hostel
The IIM Bangalore hostel facilities are provided separately to female and male students.
The IIMB hostels have single occupancy set-ups with 16 normal accommodation blocks, one block for executives known as MDC (Management Development Centre).
The IIM Bangalore hostels include 24x7 Wi-Fi, a library, a mess, a cafeteria, a salon, a gym, laundry facilities, and music and recreation rooms.
