HISTORY OF OUR COLLEGE
Indira Gandhi - Jayanthi memorial Arts and Science College is sponsored by the Indira Gandhi Jayanthi Memorial, Educational, Cultural and Charitable Trust, which was registered at Chennai in 1996.

The founder - cum Chairman Chevalier Sir, Prof.Dr.K.C.RAJABATHER, M.A., M.A.,M.Ed.,M.Phil., B.Com., PGDPM, D.Lit., O.A.S.G. (Austria), Ph.D., has founded the college in memory of the former Prime Minister late Smt. Indira Gandhi and late Smt. Jayanthi, wife of the founder. He has also founded the Tagore Educational Society in the year 1974 and is running several educational institutions in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Chennai districts in TamilNadu.

COLLEGE CREST
Enshrined within a circle with the picture of JansiRani Lakshmibai, mounted on a horse galloping with her sword drawn out. The college crest depicts her as the personification of valour and patriotism and the inscription below her picture “Be Brave” is her message to fight for the right cause.

At the bottom is the book of knowledge. The lotus flower in a pond represents nature’s gift, the beauty and the seat of Goddess Saraswathi and the Kamatchi vilakku (light) with the flame depicts the real enlightenment, which Swami Vivekananda worshipped everyday. The burning sun which gives light to everybody irrespective of caste, creed, and Colour preaches equanimity and secularism to mankind’.


Arise, Awake and Achieve are the key words taken from the saying of Swami Vivekananda college.

The prospectus will cost Rs.200/-
Students should fill the application form legibly in her own handwriting.
Acknowledgement be obtained after delivering of the application at the college office.
Photographs and mark statements of X, XII are required at the time of admission.
Selected candidates will be sent provisional admission card. The candidates will not be intimated if the application is rejected.
Selected candidates have to produce the following at the time of admission.
5 passport size photos
3 stamp size photos
3 xerox copies of the X, XII marks statement
Transfer Certificate
Conduct Certificate
Attendance Certificate from the school last studied
Community Certificate
Income Certificate
First Graduate certificate for B.C.and M.B.C. only
Any other certificate or document that may be required by the college in original be produced at the time of admission.
The parent or guardian must accompany at the time of interview for admission.
Special note :
All original certificates will be required at the college office and returned only after the end of the course.

Hence selected candidates are advised to take many xerox copies of all the originals as needed.

Fees remitted once will not be refunded. If anyone wants to discontinue the course she has to pay the entire fees for the course.

Students who are very proficient in sports & games or in any other extra curricular activities are given weightage in admission.

A student desirous of leaving the course in the middle for whatever reason, must pay the entire fee for the remaining duration of the course.
