About
International Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (IIVER) was established in the year 2011 under the umbrella of Jan Shakti Charitable Trust, Rohtak. The main objective of the trust is to provide help in the establishment or maintenance of educational institutes including schools and colleges which can be either for general or technical education including medicine, veterinary, commerce, agriculture, literature, philosophy, science including domestic science or arts, physical education etc. The trust shall also help in promotion, encouragement and advancement of education in art and artistic efforts in all its branches including imparting of knowledge in art, allied or abstract music, painting, drama, dancing, photography, sculpture and of any other kind.
The role of livestock in the rural economy has acquired a greater significance because of decreasing landholdings. For marginal farmers, the livestock industry can provide an insatiable income. However, this requires the well-being of livestock by means of a good livestock management system and excellent animal health maintenance and monitoring. With this objective in mind, IIVER was established to produce competent veterinarians and Para-veterinarians.
IIVER is situated at the by-pass, NH 10, near village Bahu Akbarpur,10 Mile Stone Rohtak by pass, Haryana 10 km from Rohtak city. It is an ideal location with New Delhi being only 75 km away. The area falls under National Capital Region and is home to world-renowned Murrah buffaloes also called Black Gold.
Presently, IIVER is offering BVSc & AH degree program since 2014-15 session under Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar and a 2 year Veterinary and Livestock Development Diploma under the Institute of Para Veterinary Sciences of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar.
Apart from comprehensive study program, the diploma students once in the second/final year are allowed to interact with several pharmaceutical companies in order to keep abreast with the latest available products related to animal health. An annual sport week is also organized to inculcate the sportsman spirit.
The IIVER complex consists of modern buildings, well equipped laboratories and residential accommodation for the students and the faculty. A large number of clinical cases are brought to the clinic thus providing sufficient teaching material for the students and well exposure to animal ailments in various species. A well managed Livestock Farm Complex is also functional which involves the students in all aspects of animal rearing.
The Veterinary Clinical Complex at IIVER has an average OPD of 50 animals per day which provides students in both the degree and diploma courses ample opportunity to gain practical experience and exposure to animal ailments in various species. It is also well equipped with modern and essential facilities like diagnostic laboratory, small and large animal X-ray machines, ultra sonography, physiotherapy equipments and operation theatres for both small and large animals.
In order to involve students in all the aspects of animal rearing, a well-managed Livestock Farm Complex is also established on campus and many free clinical camps are organized for the prevention and eradication of animal diseases to promote the welfare of animals health.
In addition, a well equipped Ambulatory Clinic provides free Veterinary services in various neighbouring villages and Gaushalas. Many free clinical camps are also organized for the prevention and eradication of animal diseases in the larger interest of animal health welfare.
The goal of IIVER is to help bridge the gap between the demand and supply of veterinarians and para-veterinarians and provide the highest quality facilities to the farmers and the general public in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary sciences. The Institute is continuously striving towards this goal of providing the best training to future veterinarians and para veterinarians through recruiting highly qualified teaching faculty and equipping the practical labs with state-of-the-art equipment. This will help IIVER produce highly qualified Veterinarians and Para-veterinarians and increase the current animal to veterinarian ratio in the state of Haryana and India.
