JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, formerly known as JSS University, is a Deemed to be University located in Mysuru, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. This deemed-to-be university is recognized by Ministry of Education and accredited by NAAC with A+ Grade (3.48 CGPA). JSS AHER has been graded as Category-I Deemed-to-be University by UGC

Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka rated JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru as a four-star institution with a Score of 711 out of 1000 and was first among Young Universities in Karnataka in 2017.

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) is focused on medical and health-related studies, and comprises JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College & Hospital and JSS College of Pharmacy at the main campus in Mysuru as well as another pharmacy college in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu. With a view to extend the horizons in the field of Health Sciences, the Department of Water and Health (Faculty of Life Sciences) and Department of Health System Management Studies have been integrated as Deemed-to-be University Departments.

Today, more than 600 faculty members instruct approximately 2000 undergraduate and graduate students and around 300 research scholars. JSS AHER generous financial aid program ensures that talented students from all economic backgrounds can afford quality education. TIFAC-CORE in herbal drugs approved by DST, BA/BE centre approved by DCGI, Drug Testing Laboratory approved by State Government, Faculty Training Centre, Industry Institution Interaction Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell approved by AICTE are the active centres of research. MBBS and MD-MS courses, Candidates are selected on the basis of NEET score card. Selections to UG and PG Pharmacy courses are done on the basis of Entrance Examination conducted by the institute itself. For other PG courses selection is done on the basis of qualifying examination NEET PG.

Placement Cell

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research ( JSS AHER ) with its training and placement cell have facilitated sighting of fresh and promising human resources for the life sciences industry. Around 75 per cent of the students opt for enrollment into the training and placement and are suitably employed in leading pharma, Ayurveda, biotech companies, Hospitals across the country.

The key advantage for the life sciences industry is that JSS AHER Constituent colleges are ISO certified institutions and are part of the NAAC accredited JSS AHER. The office of the training and placement is to impart the hands on training and provide opportunities to the students of Pharmacy, Management, Life Science, Medical, Dental and Biomedical Sciences.

There are several collaborations with the industry not just to hire students but for industry-academia exchange programs also. The office of the Training and Placement is headed by Deputy Director – Academic since 2014. The office coordinates the meetings with constituent colleges thrice annually in order to understand the requirements of the students for the employment and the projects. The training and Placement office reports into the Vice Chancellor – JSS AHER. Each coordinator from the constituent college will be responsible to collate data of the students who are interested to pursue the career in life sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Hospital Administration.

Karnataka Labour Welfare Board Scholarship
The Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund is constituted for financing and conducting activities to promote welfare of contributing employees covered under the Karnataka Labour Welfare Act, 1965. The employees working in various industries, their dependents and children are eligible for the welfare schemes.

SSP Post Matric Scholarship
An Integrated State Scholarship Portal (SSP) is developed by Center for e-Governance, GoK for sanctioning of Pre-Matric & Post-Matric Scholarship under various Schemes of Government of Karnataka. SSP does Direct Benefit Transfer into Aadhaar seeded account of the student.

National Scholarship Portal
National Scholarships Portal is one-stop solution through which various services starting from student application, application receipt, processing, sanction and disbursal of various scholarships to Students are enabled. National Scholarships Portal is taken as Mission Mode Project under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP)

Hostels for Men & Women
Students have exclusive hostels for men and women with spacious, comfortable, well-furnished rooms with all modern amenities, hygienic kitchens, nutritious food, and a 24-hour security system at any/all JSSU colleges. Students wishing to stay in these hostels are advised to apply in the prescribed forms. The campus has a bank and an ATM kiosk, plus a post office and a healthcare clinic. Leisure time spaces such as reading and television lounges are also available.

JSS Medical College, Mysuru
Hostel / Accommodation for Under Graduate & Postgraduate Students
Students have exclusive hostels for Boys and Girls with spacious, comfortable, well-furnished rooms with all modern amenities, hygienic kitchens, nutritious food, and portable RO water source is provided for drinking. Each hostel block has a separate pantry and laundry facility. Students wishing to stay in these hostels are advised to apply in the prescribed forms. The boarders are having Indoor and outdoor sports facilities and ample reading room facility. Round the clock security guards (Male & Female for respective hostels) as well as CCTV cameras are placed for continuous monitoring and vigilance for the safety of students.

We have separate hostel facilities for Postgraduate students and residents outside the campus with good accommodation and catering facilities. Solar emergency source is utilized for heating and cooking purpose in the hostel.

TRANSPORT
JSS Academy of Technical Education is situated in serene location at about 12 KM from main city center. It takes about an hour to reach the college in normal traffic condition.

At present, the institute is operating buses in three routes to provide transportation services for both students and staff from different parts of the city. Buses are hired on annual contract basis from M/s. Sathyasai Tourists. The institute is located on Banashakari - Kengeri main road. Plenty of BMTC buses are plying via college to important places like Banashankari, Konanakunte Metro station, Electronics City, Kengeri, Majestic, Jayanagar, etc. Some of the major BMTC transit lines have routes that pass near our college are 375 (from Banashankari to Kengeri), 375D (from Banashankari to Kengeri), 378 (from Electronics city to Kengeri).
