Admission to K A P Viswanathan Government Medical College, Trichy is conducted according to the admission guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the National Medical Commission. For the MBBS programme, candidates must qualify for the NEET-UG examination. Eligible candidates must participate in the relevant counselling process conducted by the appropriate authority. Seats are allotted based on NEET rank, category, eligibility, and availability of seats. For postgraduate MD and MS programmes, admission is based on NEET-PG qualification and the applicable counselling process. Candidates must submit the required academic, identity, category, and other supporting documents during verification. After seat allotment, candidates must report to the college within the prescribed deadline and complete the admission formalities. Admission is confirmed after successful document verification and payment of the prescribed fees.

Being a Government Medical College under the Government of Tamil Nadu, eligible students can avail themselves of several scholarships and financial assistance schemes offered by both the Central and State Governments.
