Karpagam College of Engineering, which is widely known as KCE Coimbatore, is an autonomous institution established by Karpagam Charity Trust in the year 2000. The college is one of the Karpagam Educational Institutions.  The Karpagam Charity Trust was founded in 1989 by Dr. R. Vasantha Kumar, a renowned philanthropist and industrialist. Initially the Trust established Karpagam Arts and Science College in 1995 followed by Karpagam Polytechnic College in 1998.  KCE was conferred with the autonomous status by the Anna University in the academic year 2007-2008.  Karpagam College of Engineering strives to impart quality education and an excellent career start to all its students.

KCE campus spread over 28 acres of land in the Myleripalayam village, Othakal Mandapam post, Tamil Nadu, about 15 kms from Coimbatore Central Railway station.  The serene location surrounded by green fields and rich clusters of coconut groves creates a calm atmosphere conducive to learning and growth.  The college campus is approximately 10 km from Kinathukadavu Railway Station and 3 km from Okkilipalayam Bus Stop. The Coimbatore International Airport is about 30.9 km away from the college with taxis and cabs easily available.

Karpagam College of Engineering is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The College is accredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ Grade.   It is also accredited by NBA as well as by TCS, Microsoft and Wipro [citation needed].

KCE offers various Under Graduate and Post Graduate Engineering programs.  The Courses offered are BE, BTech, ME, MCA, MBA.  KCE admissions are granted on the basis of entrance exam followed by counselling. The entrance exams accepted by the institute are TNEA for admissions to UG courses and TANCET for admissions to PG courses.

KCE infrastructure consists of its Academic buildings, Administrative blocks, Hostels, Library, Laboratories, Classrooms, Auditorium, well-equipped Gymnasium, Clinic, Sports facilities with well maintained Playgrounds and an Indoor Stadium, Food Court, IT Infrastructure, Transport services, Cafeteria, Bank and more available on the KCE campus.

Admission Procedure

KCE Coimbatore offers UG, PG, and Doctoral courses in Engineering and Technology, Management, and Computer Applications. The programs offered are BE, BTech, ME, MBA, MCA, and PhD. The exams accepted are TNEA, TANCET, NET, and SLET.

Admission Process

• Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore provides a 2 years M.E./M.Tech course to the students in Full Time mode. The course is offered at the PG level.
• Admission to the course is based on TANCET. Below is the eligibility criteria for Karaikudi Institute of Technology and Karaikudi Institute of Management MBA/PGDM:

Eligibility

• Undergraduate Degree with 50% aggregate
• M.E, MBA & MCA: To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with 50% marks (5% marks relaxation for reserved category candidates) from a recognized university.
• Accepting Exams: TANCET.

Ph.D - Eligibility

• Candidates must have completed a master’s degree in the relevant discipline with 50% marks (5% marks relaxation for reserved category candidates) from a recognized university to be eligible for admission.
  
• The selection criteria are based on the scores obtained in the NET/SLET examination.
  

Scholarship

The college provides scholarships primarily based on caste and income categories, with government scholarships available for students admitted through counseling. First graduate students receive up to ?20,000 per year, while non-first graduates receive a lesser amount. Scholarships are offered for the first three years, but not the final year. Minority and community-based scholarships are also available.

KCE has many student clubs to connect, engage and explore the talents of the students! Student clubs allow for further exploration and discovery in academic and non- academic areas, enabling growth experiences and learning beyond the classroom setting. Through this, students are able to develop and hone their leadership skills, as well as appreciate the value of teamwork and cooperation.The library is well furnished with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD / DVD – ROMs, Online Databases, Micro Documents, Books, Journals, Project Reports, Back Volume of Journals, and Video Lessons from NPTEL. The library is using an integrated library management software package (LMS) with all modules for automated library operation and Bar code system. The books are arranged and classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. All students and staff are members of the library and Open Access System is followed in the library.

KCE encourages and accelerates development of indigenous products and packages by bridging the gap between R&D and commercialization. KCE facilitates entrepreneurial training and IPR development guidance by involving experienced faculty in startup activities. KCE ensures interaction between education and industry through the alignment of education with exact market demands. The Entrepreneurship cell organizes Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Faculty Development Programmes and Skill Development Programmes in the institution.KCE seeks to nurture technology and knowledge-based ventures through their start-up phase. It provides the necessary support to help entrepreneurs survive in the competitive market and reach a stage where they can scale-up their ventures further. The KIC aims to build and share resources including space and infrastructure, access to business support services, mentoring, training programmes to enhance the skills of entrepreneurs and seed funds.
