  Karunya Institute if Technology and Science, Coimbatore was established as an Engineering College in 1986 by Karunya Educational Trust.  Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, formerly Karunya University, is a private deemed university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, founded with the noble vision to raise professionals and leaders of high academic calibre and unblemished character, nurtured with a strong motivation and commitment to serve humanity. The institution is the fulfillment of the vision of its founders, Late Dr. D. G. S. Dhinakaran - Founder Chancellor and his son Dr. Paul Dhinakaran - present Chancellor. 

  Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran was a world renowned spiritual leader,  Founder Chancellor Emeritus of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He was the founder of the global Jesus Calls Ministry.  Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.  is the present  Chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He is an academician and educationist in his own right. Apart from this, he is an evangelist, who comforts millions of people through his ministry of hope and love. He heads Jesus Calls International Ministry with its outreach programmes all over the world. He produces the "Prayer Time" T.V. programme which is telecasted all over the world in 12 languages.  Dr. Paul Dhinakaran played a vital role to the cause of education in India as Member of National Monitoring Committee for Minority Education, Government of India and as member of the Governing Council of National Mission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Government of India.  Thanks to his dynamic leadership and farsighted vision, the institution has made great strides along the path of progress. The Chancellor has several plans to put Karunya on the world map of Engineering, Technology and Management Education.

   Established in 1986 as the first self-financing Engineering College in the country, it was granted an autonomous status in 1999 and declared Deemed-to-be University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its academic excellence by the Ministry of Human Resources Development under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide notification no 9-3-2000-U3 dated 23.6.2004 of the Government of India.  Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences is ranked among the Top 100 Institutions in NIRF Ranking in the last 3 years. All Engineering and Management Programs are approved by AICTE, UGC and MHRD.  KITS  was accredited in 2022 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),  NBA, and ACCA with an "A++" grade.  It is ranked 107 by NIRF 2022 for BTech.

 KITS offers wide range of Programmes - 28 Under Graduate Programmes, 24 PG Programmes, M.Phil  and Ph.D. Programmes in Engineering, Agriculture, Biosciences, Biotechnology, Food processing, Agricultural Sciences, Sciences, Arts, Media, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Forensic Science and Management.  Admission to B.Tech / B.Sc (Honors) Agriculture shall be based on Karunya Entrance Examination 2023(KEE 2023) and score in Higher Secondary Examination.   From a humble beginning of 180 students, the institution has rapidly grown to 8491 students and 452 faculty representing 18 academic departments.
 

 KITS is located in a beautiful and sprawling Campus of around 700 acres in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu.    

 In the 37 years of service to higher education, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences has made significant progression in teaching learning, research and consultancy, innovation and transfer of technology, community service and value education. Translating the vision of the Founders into action, the institution is currently engaged in finding solutions to human problems in the four major areas such as Water, Food, Healthcare, and Energy through scientific and technological interventions.

Our Emblem

  Karunya Emblem
  The Karunya Emblem has a human face to indicate that the well being of humanity is central to our entire endeavors and that we shall never forget them in the midst of our equations and diagrams. The symbol has a gear wheel as the human eye, in appreciation of the importance of technology in today’s world. The lighted torch stands for the light of knowledge, the light that promises moral, social and economic well being; The hand holding the torch depicts Karunya’s contribution towards enlightening the young minds by spreading knowledge through education. The motto ‘ARISE AND SHINE’ is a motivation to the youth to shine in their respective fields of study. To sum up, Karunya’s emblem reflects the institution's mission in creation and dissemination of knowledge, value addition to men and materials and optimization of human potential for national development in all its ramifications for a bright future.

  Under Graduate Programmes @ Karunya
 The Admission for all the UG courses of Engineering, Agriculture, Management, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Forensic Science, Biotechnology, Food Technology. Admission to B.Tech / B.Sc (Honors) Agriculture shall be based on Karunya Entrance Examination 2023(KEE 2023) and score in Higher Secondary Examination.

  However Provisional Admissions for 2023 can be done online. The Admission will be confirmed to a candidate after receiving his / her original certificates as per the eligibility norms of the Institution.

  Karunya has a creditable record of placement of its final year students and graduates. A good number of final year students plan to go for higher studies in India or abroad or turn entrepreneurs. As per recent trends about 80% of eligible final year students, who seek a placement, are placed with reputed organizations at the initiative of the institution prior to their leaving the campus.

  The department of Physical Education of the KDU has an excellent infrastructure to meet the sporting requirements and regular physical exercise. The University has a newly constructed indoor auditorium having an area of 748.162 sq.m meant for shuttle badminton, table tennis and carom. The Evangeline fitness gym is one among the top class facilities constructed & maintained by the Department of Physical Education of KDU.
