Karunya Institute if Technology and Science, Coimbatore was established as an Engineering College in 1986 by Karunya Educational Trust.  Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, formerly Karunya University, is a private deemed university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, founded with the noble vision to raise professionals and leaders of high academic calibre and unblemished character, nurtured with a strong motivation and commitment to serve humanity. The institution is the fulfillment of the vision of its founders, Late Dr. D. G. S. Dhinakaran - Founder Chancellor and his son Dr. Paul Dhinakaran - present Chancellor. 

Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran was a world renowned spiritual leader,  Founder Chancellor Emeritus of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He was the founder of the global Jesus Calls Ministry.  Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.  is the present  Chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He is an academician and educationist in his own right. Apart from this, he is an evangelist, who comforts millions of people through his ministry of hope and love. He heads Jesus Calls International Ministry with its outreach programmes all over the world. He produces the "Prayer Time" T.V. programme which is telecasted all over the world in 12 languages.  Dr. Paul Dhinakaran played a vital role to the cause of education in India as Member of National Monitoring Committee for Minority Education, Government of India and as member of the Governing Council of National Mission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Government of India.  Thanks to his dynamic leadership and farsighted vision, the institution has made great strides along the path of progress. The Chancellor has several plans to put Karunya on the world map of Engineering, Technology and Management Education.

Established in 1986 as the first self-financing Engineering College in the country, it was granted an autonomous status in 1999 and declared Deemed-to-be University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its academic excellence by the Ministry of Human Resources Development under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide notification no 9-3-2000-U3 dated 23.6.2004 of the Government of India.  Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences is ranked among the Top 100 Institutions in NIRF Ranking in the last 3 years. All Engineering and Management Programs are approved by AICTE, UGC and MHRD.  KITS  was accredited in 2022 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),  NBA, and ACCA with an "A++" grade.  It is ranked 107 by NIRF 2022 for BTech.

KITS offers wide range of Programmes - 28 Under Graduate Programmes, 24 PG Programmes, M.Phil  and Ph.D. Programmes in Engineering, Agriculture, Biosciences, Biotechnology, Food processing, Agricultural Sciences, Sciences, Arts, Media, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Forensic Science and Management.  Admission to B.Tech / B.Sc (Honors) Agriculture shall be based on Karunya Entrance Examination 2023(KEE 2023) and score in Higher Secondary Examination.   From a humble beginning of 180 students, the institution has rapidly grown to 8491 students and 452 faculty representing 18 academic departments.

Admission Criteria

UG Admission 2025

The Admission for all the UG courses of Engineering, Agriculture, Management, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Forensic Science, Biotechnology, Food Technology. Admission to B.Tech / B.Sc (Honors) Agriculture shall be based on Karunya Entrance Examination 2023(KEE 2023) and score in Higher Secondary Examination. However Provisional Admissions for 2023 can be done online. The Admission will be confirmed to a candidate after receiving his / her original certificates as per the eligibility norms of the Institution.

Application Process 2025

Candidates seeking admission to the courses offered by Karunya Deemed University can fill the application form available on its official website. However, the final selection will be on the basis of merit in the entrance examination and qualifying examination. Follow the below-given steps to apply online:

• Visit the official website for filling the application form
  
• Login to course site and submit the expression of interest online
  
• Once the EOI is accepted, an acknowledgement SMS and Email will be sent to candidates’ Mobile number indicating the Application number and pass code.
  
• Now candidates can submit the online application by filling the details and uploading the necessary documents.
  
• Pay the application fee online of INR 1000/- OR USD 250/- (for foreign nationals and PIO candidates)
  
• Download the receipt of payment of application fee and submitted application form for future reference.
  
• Make the initial payment as per the approved fee structure of the university through online mode/DD/electronic payment or cash payment mode.
  
• Once the application is submitted successfully, the candidates will get a confirmation SMS and Email to download the provisional admission letter.

BTech & BSc Agriculture Hons Scholarships 2025

The scholarships given below are granted to BTech and BSc Agriculture Honours students. For B.Tech. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Agriculture Hons, B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering and B.Tech. Food Processing Engineering programs, PCB is applicable if the candidates have not taken Mathematics. For people who have scored 80%, 70%, and 60% in Science subjects, respectively, they are eligible for special scholarships. These categories include Wards of Faculty & Staff of KITS/JC/SEESHA/EMS/KCS, Siblings of current students or alumni; Wards of alumni, Biological child of a Pastor/Missionary from a registered Church or Missionary organization, Girl Students Scholarship, and JC Young Partner Scholarship. This sum is the scholarship amount offered per year.

The department of Physical Education of the KDU has an excellent infrastructure to meet the sporting requirements and regular physical exercise. The University has a newly constructed indoor auditorium having an area of 748.162 sq.m meant for shuttle badminton, table tennis and carom. The Evangeline fitness gym is one among the top class facilities constructed & maintained by the Department of Physical Education of KDU. This gym is installed with the latest gym equipment of the highest standard. In addition to this, the University has the following facilities.

A state-of-the art campus network with 10 Gbps fiber optic backbone connects all the Institution and residence buildings. Internet connectivity is available 24x7 through multiple service providers via Internet leased lines.
