Kongu Engineering College is the great possession of the committed Trust called 'The Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust' (KVITT) in Erode District, Tamilnadu.   Kongu, refering to a region in Southern India, is a term dating back to the Chera period. And  Kongu Vellalars refers to an agricultural  community called Kongu Vellalar Gounders who were mainly concentrated in and around Erode District in the West of Tamilnadu.  The members of this community were deprived of educational facility in those days and were pushed to the back ground owing to the privatisation of eduction, especially technical.  Hence this Trust, KVITT, was created in the year 1983 by a group of philantropists from among the Kongu Vellalar Gouders to promote technical education and encourage literary and scientific knowledge and develop equality of opportunity for the rich and the poor.  The noble Trust has taken the institute to greater heights since its inception in 1983 and has established the college as a forum for imparting value based education for men and women.V. Tamilnadu Government G.O. Ms. No. 1294 dated 29.9.1984 granted Kongu Engineering College as an autonomous engineering college located at Perundurai, Erode district in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is affiliated to Anna University and accredited 'A++' Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.  Affiliated to Anna University Chennai,the college has completed four decades of dedicated service to the people of India and abroad in the field of Technical Education.  AICTE, New Delhi approval No. F.No.45-46/91-AICTE/586 dated 19.4.1993.

Kongu Engineering College has an area of 167 acres of land richly endowed with beautiful greenery.  The college provides various facilities including Library, Sports facilities, Guest Houses, Mens and ladies hostels, College Transport, Medical facilities, Dispensery, ambulance, Food court, Amenity  centre, Bank and ATM, Post office, RO purifier, Wifi connectivity and 24 hour power supply.  

The College Library established in the year 1984, was housed in a classroom with 700 books to start with. In 1986 when the college was shifted to its permanent building, the library occupied a lecture hall in the first floor of the main building. In 1991, it was shifted to the present building named “C.D. MEMORIAL LIBRARY” in honour of the founder correspondent, Thiru. C. Doraisamy.  In the year 2005, the library buildings were extended from 5 sections to 12 various sections with discussion rooms, modern furniture, and air conditioning.   The Department of Physical Education aims to instill the spirit of sportsmanship in technical students, to help them learn discipline, leadership quality, team work and also encourage them to participate in Sports & Games, in order to lead a healthy life. This Department is well equipped with all facilities, to enable the students to practice and participate in all the games and sports events indoor as well as outdoor.  KEC encourages students who join under sports quota by providing full free education with free boarding and lodging for 15 students every year.

Admission Procedure

KEC Erode offers admission to BE, B.Tech, B.Sc, ME, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc and PhD programs. KEC Erode offers admission to BE as its flagship program. For the BE admissions at KEC Erode, candidates must have qualified previous qualifying examination and participate in the TNEA counselling for the final seat allotments

Eligibility

• MBA: Candidates must have completed graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university.
  The selection criteria for admission is based on the MAT/ TANCET scores.
  
• MCA: Candidates must have completed a BCA/ B.Tech degree with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university.
  
• The selection criteria for admission is based on the TANCET scores.

The placement cell has been functioning in our campus since 1998. Placement Cell serves as a bridge between the academic world and the professional realm, facilitating the transition of students from the classroom to the workplace.Placement Cells have evolved significantly over the years and moved beyond merely organizing campus interviews to offering comprehensive career development services. The integration of technology has streamlined the job search process, allowing students to access job listings and resources online.Furthermore, Placement Cells now recognize the importance of holistic development. We focus on nurturing not only technical skills but also interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and adaptability, as these qualities are highly valued by employers.

Functions of a Placement Cell:

•    Top 5 students of each Department based on the CGPA will be given a scholarship around 11000 to 15000.
•    In addition Government of Tamilnadu also gives scholarship to students based on merit.

Welcome to the Central Library which is one of the central support services of KEC. The Central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of On-line databases, e-books, e-journals, theses, back volumes etc. The library homepage provides access to various full-text & bibliographic databases & e-journals.The Library transactions are carried out using RFID and Bar Code Technology. It features KOHA automation software and Web OPAC for online search. The catalogue is accessible via intranet and internet. 42 CCTV cameras ensure security and discipline in the library.
