Lady Doak College, a premier Christian Institution and the first Women's College in Madurai, was the brainchild of Ms. Katie Wilcox, an American missionary with a vision and fervour for the empowerment of women. The College made its humble genesis in 1948, and within a short span of time, in 1978, it was commissioned to function as an autonomous college, being affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University.

As an Ecumenical Christian College whose purpose is to impart quality education of Christian character to students of all creeds, this college strives to develop their intellectual powers, locate, identify and cultivate their interests and talents and train them to be responsible and useful citizens. The college, presently, functions as a unit of Katie Wilcox Education Association and stands distinguished as one of the pioneering autonomous colleges in India.

Lady Doak College, Madurai admissions are granted based on the merit of the previous qualifying exams of the candidates. LDC UG admissions to BA, B.Com, B.Com Hons, B.Sc and BBA degree courses are done based on the 10+2 marks of the candidates and LDC diploma admissions are done on the basis of the same as well.

Placements: Above 85% of students are placed in our course with good salary packages. Many internships and job opportunities are provided by qualified companies. About 80% of students got placed in our college.

Residential Life
Accommodation in residential halls is given only to bonafide students of the college of the current academic year.

Nine residential halls, each under the care of faculty Resident Hall Supervisors, provide residential accommodation for approximately 600 students. At least one meeting a month is held by the JCAR (Joint Council for Action in Residence) to consider matters of interest or concern to resident students.

Application for residential accommodation must be made to the Dean of Student Services at the time of admission. In accepting resident students, preference is given to the students who reside outside Madurai.

Resident students should not entertain non-resident students in their rooms. Students must adhere to all rules and regulations of the hostel. Students violating any rule will not be permitted to remain in the hostel.

For withdrawal from the residential hall a student must submit a letter of request from her parents to the Dean of Student Services (at least 2 days before the date of withdrawal.) All dues to the college must be paid. A "No dues" certificate must be obtained from the Bursar. Personal belongings must be removed from the residential hall with the knowledge and permission of the Dean of Student Services and the Resident Hall Supervisors concerned. The student is not permitted to keep her personal belongings in the residential hall after withdrawal from residence.

Hostel
Hostel admission is valid only for ONE academic year at a time and its renewal is subject to the student abiding by rules, regulations and expectations of the college and hostel. Her academic progress is also taken into account.

Hostel Fees
Fees will be levied towards establishment and medical service for the year at the commencement of the academic year. Payment should be made only through online. Hostel fees should be paid at the beginning of the academic year. Boarding fees will be collected in 3 installments [one at the commencement of the academic year / Odd Semester along with the hostel fees, Second, at the beginning of September and third, at the beginning of January]. All deposits will be adjusted at the end of the academic year for mess bill & dues if any, and the balance will be refunded.

Free Wi-Fi will be available at various spots on campus and the students will have access to this as soon as they reach Lady Doak College.

Yoga classes periodically for the students.

They will also have the choice of attending Chapel service daily at the Lady Doak College Chapel.

Please note that Lady Doak College is a non-smoking, non-alcohol and non-drugs campus. We understand that the students will have difficulty in language here in India and throughout their stay with us for the programme, we will have a team of over 30 student volunteers with them to accompany them to aid in communication. These student

volunteers will also help them understand the nuances of Indian culture and social system. They will also be given an orientation on their arrival.
