Latha Mathavan Engineering College - LMEC was established in the year 2007 by Karuppiah Pillai Theivanai Ammal Educational Trust at Alagar Kovil, near Madurai. The focus is on shaping students to become Self-Disciplined, Self-Dependent and Self-Confident individuals. LMEC pulls out all the stops to mould the students’ career in such a way that they excel in all fine distinction of life. Dr K Mathavan is the Chairman of the College Governing Council.

Latha Mathavan Engineering College is situated at Latha Mathavan Nagar, Kidaripatti Post, Alagarkoil (via), Melur Taluk, Madura on a 50-acre campus of tropical greenery, surrounded by the Alagarmalai Hills and near the Alagar Kovil Reserve Forest. Madurai Junction Railway Station is 26 Kms from the College while Madurai Airport is 41 Kms away.
