Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), a private business school in Nungambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, was founded in 1979 to form competent and committed leaders who are ethical, principle-centred and socially responsible with a global perspective and entrepreneurial spirit. It is situated on the Loyola College, Chennai, campus and run by the Loyola College Society. LIBA is run by Jesuits of the Loyola College Society well-known globally for their outstanding contribution to higher education all over the world. LIBA stands for excellence (Magis) with ethics which are the hallmarks of Jesuit Higher Education, and all its programmes and activities embody these two elements. LIBA earnestly strives to inculcate in the students the values of excellence, justice, honesty and service to the society. Formation of character lies at the core of Teaching-Learning-Assessment, leading to forming responsible leaders. This formation is embedded in the concept of ‘cura personalis’ which translates as “care of the whole person,” suggests individualized attention to the needs of others, distinct respect for unique circumstances and concerns, and an appropriate appreciation for singular gifts and insights.
Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) when established in 1979 had a three-year, part-time PGDBM program catering to the needs of business executives in and around Chennai. This program was approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Since 1995 LIBA has offered a two-year, full-time PGDM program, approved by the AICTE and recognized as equivalent to an MBA degree by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). LIBA also offers a full-time MBA (PGDM) program (2 years), part-time MBA (PGBM) program (3 years), various executive diploma courses, and certificate programs in various management subjects. It is a resource center for doctoral programs offered in affiliation with the University of Madras. The duration of PGDM is two years, the executive diploma is one year, the part-time PGDM three years (weekends) and certificate programme is two months. Candidates willing to pursue part-time PGDM should have a minimum of two years of work experience. Candidates with work experience will also be preferred for admission to executive diploma. A Total of over 35 courses across 3 streams are being offered by LIBA.
It also offers other programmes: Weekend PGDM (AICTE approved), Ph.D. (affiliated to the University of Madras) and one-year executive diploma programmes. The Management Development Centre (MDC) offers various customised programmes (short-term and long-term) with a focus on skill development to premier industries and business enterprises. The CK Prahalad Centre for Emerging India (CKPC) aims to skill the marginalized focusing on rural youth, empowering women and nurturing rural and dalit entrepreneurs through its acceleration program under Incubation Innovation Council (IIC). LIBA concentrates on the holistic formation of students in all aspects viz., intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual to form discerning leaders. The Institution works with an undeterred zeal to offer its students the best education, having a blend of classroom sessions and experiential learning guided by an innovative curriculum.

LIBA, Chennai offers PhD in affiliation with the University of Madras. After completing the executive diploma programme, candidates can opt for Binary MBA. To facilitate Student exchange praograms, LIBA has collaborated with various international universities like Binary University (Malaysia), Le Moyne College (USA) and NEOMA Business Wchool (France)Under this programme, students get a chance to visit and study in universities located abroad.
