Madurai Kamaraj University started a unique Evening College on the 1st December 1969 in its ???????? P.T.R. ??????????????????? situated on Alagarkoil Road, Madurai-2. The concept of Evening College was evolved particularly for the benefit of employed / self-employed aspirants. From its inception, the college catered to the educational needs of lakhs and lakhs of candidates who were not able to undergo higher studies through regular mode of education in and around Madurai. The Evening College has been existing for its determined aim of providing higher education to the working people who could not pursue their studies in regular stream. As such, the yeomen services of the evening college continued up to 2012. The sudden closure of Evening College had shut down the opportunity of many aspirants’ desire to study UG and PG/M.Phil courses.

In order to help the employed persons and in view of the increased demand for higher degree courses, the Madurai Kamaraj University Evening College was re-established on the 15th December 2017. The college offers M.Phil. Courses in 21 subjects from the academic year 2017-2018 and M.Phil in Political Science form 2019-20. At present, UG Courses in B.A. Tamil, B.A. Economics, B.A. English, B.A. History, B.A. Political Science, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Com, BBA and PG Courses in M.A. English, M.Sc. Mathematics and M.B.A, are offered. The college will certainly work towards the quality of education aiming at achieving excellence, equity and employability for the student community.

v  MKU's outreach programmes have been given a facelift by the increased pace and quantum of activities aimed through the empowerment of villages. Under knowledge and technology transfer to villages, the University along with the colleges has adopted 421 villages, from where farmers are going to be given hands on training in production of biopesticides, biofertilizers and vermiculture, which can create regular self income and/or employment opportunities, as it provides never ending market potential.

Madurai Kamaraj University Selection Process 2024

For the Madurai Kamaraj University PG Selection Process 50% of the weightage is given to marks obtained in the Entrance Examination conducted by Madurai Kamaraj University, and the remaining 50% weightage is assigned to the candidate's undergraduate (UG) marks up to the 5th semester.

For the PG Programme (Non-Entrance), candidates are selected based on their UG marks up to the 5th semester/2nd year (Non-Semester) of the UG program, even if they have already completed their degree.

For the MBA (Residential program), candidates are required to undergo an interview and group discussion after the announcement of the entrance examination results.

For the M.P.Ed Programme, in addition to the Entrance Examination, candidates will undergo a Practical Examination and Viva-voce. The department will notify the candidates about the dates later. During the Practical Examination, candidates should come prepared in sports uniform, including appropriate shoes and personal sports equipment like hockey sticks or racquets. The test process is expected to span the entire day.

For the Madurai Kamaraj University UG Selection Criteria there is no requirement for an entrance examination.

·         Class 10 and 12 mark sheet

·         2 clear passport- size photographs in the prescribed size and format. The prescribed size (excluding the margin of the photo) is 3.5” x 2.5” showing the bust of the candidates. Each photo must have a margin of almost 1” at the top and 1.5” at the bottom.

The placement cell of Madurai Kamaraj University Evening College, Madurai is responsible for facilitating the placement process and connecting students with employment opportunities. Boys Hostel

The MKU boy’s hostels consist of a total of 351 rooms. The MKU hostel facility also includes a well-furnished T.V. Hall, Mess, Library, and WiFi connectivity with adequate water supply available throughout the year.

Girls Hostel

There are 3 women’s hostel blocks of Madurai Kamaraj University women’s hostel has a total of 317 well-furnished double accommodation rooms with more than 487 inmates. The MKU, Madurai girl’s hostel has facilities such as round-the-clock all-women security, Wi-Fi, TV halls, a visitor’s room, and dining halls with a consistent water supply.

Medical/Hospital

 University Hospital working in collaboration with Apollo Speciality Hospitals renders 24-hour services to the Students, Staff, and families living on the University campus and to the public from 40 neighbouring villages at a nominal charge. There is a range of services provided by Madurai University University Medical facility, some of these are a 24-hour Ambulance facility, X-ray unit, Lab, well-equipped labour theatre, ECG, and nebulizer.

Madurai Kamaraj University library facility is fully air-conditioned and has a vast collection of textbooks, reference books and other resources.
