Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences sponsored by Sri Rama Educational Trust was established in the year 2003 at Nellimarla, Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh. Before starting this college, not only from Vizianagaram district but also from the surrounding districts people were not having proper medical facilities for their health problems and medical education for their children. Since, the inception of this college, that issues were taken care and the people of 2, 3 districts are feeling comfortable. This is one of the oldest private medical colleges in Uttarandhra.

Since the inception under the management of Sri Rama Educational Trust, for the last 13 years, MIMS is not failing any time in rendering health services to the people of 3 districts and part of Orissa state also. This institute has introduced “Kanna Thalli Padakam” for pregnant women and other various schemes to treat the patients. By conducting hundreds of medical camps, the institute has become very popular among the public. The institute always lived in the hearts of the people for its relentless efforts in giving the best medical services according to the needs of the people. The management has got culmination of vision to take this institute to the Deemed University status and expand their horizon to take care of the patients needs.

With Sri Alluri Murthy Raju at it’s helm, the Sri Rama Educational Trust is responsible for sponsoring the Maharaja’s Institute of Medical Sciences. Sri Murthy Raju is also associated with other educational institutions three Engineering Colleges, three Public Schools, one Management School and has a trail of achievements behind him. He is an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Rama and has served as chairman of the Bhadrachalam Devasthanam for seven years and is presently the chairman of it s renovation committee.

Admission Procedure

MIMS Vizianagaram Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 18 courses offered at MIMS Vizianagaram. The courses are offered disciplines like Medical. MIMS Vizianagaram courses includes MBBS, M.D, M.S. Popular courses at MIMS Vizianagaram are MBBS, M.D, M.S.

Admission Criteria

Admission Process

For MBBS: Admission is via the national exam NEET-UG, followed by counselling and seat allocation through AMU / central/state quota as applicable.
For MD/MS: Admission via NEET-PG, followed by counselling as per seat matrix and university rules.

Eligibility criteria

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (for general category candidates) and 40% marks (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in aggregate.
  
• For Govt. only students having a domicile of Andhra Pradesh will be able to participate. For Private medical colleges of Andhra Pradesh, both domicile and Non-domicile students can participate.
  

Placement 

The institute offers placement assistance to the students for seeking best job in the industry. Along with that, the college also provide training and career guidance services to shape the career of students by developing their personalities. The institute organizes various programs for enhancing the skills of the students and make them prepare for upcoming challenges.

Scholarship

Students can avail scholarships offered by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, including SC/ST/OBC/EWS and minority scholarships. Merit-based and need-based financial assistance schemes are also applicable as per eligibility.

Facilities  Offered @ Maharajah Institute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram

Accommodation is provided for – Principal office, college council room, office superintendent’s room, Office and record room. The Dean Office’s is located in the First floor of the hospital building along with the administrative block. Adequate space (as per MSR guidelines by MCI) and other required facilities (as given in the table below) are provided to the administrative staff.

There is an air-conditioned Central Library (2400 Sq.m) with seating arrangement for 300 students for reading and having good lighting and ventilation and space for stocking and display of books and journals. There is one room for 150 students inside and one room for 150 students outside. 12511 books are present. There are 100 journals. Air-conditioned Computer room with Medlar and Internet facility with 40 nodes is also available.

• Catering is done in hygienic conditions and food is cooked in steam facilities.
  
• The built up area is about 2,500 Sq. ft. It helps in catering to the administrative staff and students
  

There are four lecture theatres (air conditioned), of gallery type in the Institution for seating capacity for 180 students each (4Nos), and one in the hospital of capacity for 200 students. Lecture theatres are provided with necessary independent audio-visual aids including overhead projector, slide projector, LCD projector and a microphone. These lecture theatres are shared by all the departments in a programmed manner.There shall be 6 laboratories (225 Sq.m.area each) which will be provided with continuous working tables. Every seat shall be provided with stainless steel wash basin. Every working table shall have drawer or steam proof top, and individual lighting. One preparation room each of 15 Sq.m. area shall be provided with all the laboratories. There shall be two laboratories of 90 Sq.m. area each.

The institute operates transport facilities for students and staff from nearby towns and city areas. The campus is well connected by road, making daily commuting convenient.
