Mahatma Gandhi Veterinary College, Bharatpur was established in 2003 under the aegis of Smt. Urmila Devi Mahgaiya Paropkari Trust as a dream project for the service of animals in east Rajasthan.   Rajasthan government granted permission to the trust to open the Veterinary College at Bharatpur with 50 seats.  It is the oldest private Veterinary College in India.  

 

MGVC is located 1 km from Saras Chouraha, in the heart of Bharatpur City on 30 acres of land, adjacent to Agra-Jaipur National Highway 21, Agra Rd, near Surya City Township, Jawahar Nagar, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.  The College is well connected to different parts of the country by Rail & Road and is surrounded by Agra and Mathura districts of Uttar Pradesh.  The famous world heritage bird sanctuary “Keoladeo” (Ghana) is just 1Km. from the institute.  Bharatpur region is famous for its native breed Mewati of cattle, Kundi of buffalo and Bagri of sheep that have been developed locally in view of adoptability of agro- ecological conditions. Mixed animal-agriculture farming is the common practice in the local farmers.

MGVC offers five and half year B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree course.  Besides a robust teaching pedagogy, Mahatma Gandhi Veterinary College is also a leader in research and innovation.  Besides a robust teaching pedagogy, the college is also a leader in Research and Innovation.  The college follows course curriculum as prescribed by the VCI norms (as mentioned in Minimum standards of Veterinary educatiom2016).  It is possible to get a B.V.Sc. admission without NEET but appearing for NEET is a must for any management quota in veterinary colleges.

 

Focus is given to activities beyond academics at Mahatma Gandhi Veterinary College, which is evident from its infrastructure, extracurricular activities and national & international collaborations.  The college buildings have all necessary facilities to teach with latest IT enabled techniques including a well furnished Auditorium, Examination Hall, Lecture Halls, spacious Library, well-ventilated Classrooms and Transportation.

Admission Process

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
DEGREE OFFERED
The B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course is of five and half year’s duration (four- and half-year course and 12 months compulsory internship as per VCI recommendations).

ELIGIBILITY (AS PER VCI NORMS)
Candidates must have completed the age of 17 years and the maximum age of 25 years on or before 31st December, 2020 or as per norms laid dawn by the university, VCI in this regard.
Candidates must have passed the higher secondary examination conducted by Statutory Board under the 10 + 2 pattern of secondary education or any other examination recognized to be its equivalent (equivalent to class XII of 10 +2 pattern).
The candidates under general category must have 50% of the aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Bio Technology in this qualifying examination.
Whereas in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST or other special category of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for the admission shall be 2.5% less than that prescribed for general category i.e. 47.5%.
He / She shall have to appear in NEET for admission.

Management Seats (40 No.): Admissions are made by the MGVC on the basis of NEET as well as RPVT subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions. Notification / Advertisement for the same is issued by the MGVC through Regional, National dailies and College website (mgvcbharatpur.com)
Regular Seats (40 ): Admission are made through RPVT (Rajasthan Domicile only) as per rules and regulation made by Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS) Bikaner, Rajasthan and 15% seats from VCI quota.

VETERINARY CLINICAL COMPLEX
A grand veterinary clinics is an integral part of MGVC academic activities. It serves dual purpose as it provides treatment to the sick animals and at the same time students gets hands on training on various types of clinical cases. The clinics have ethno veterinary practice and use of latest technologies for diagnosis. Medicine, Surgery and Gynecological units have facilities for latest diagnostic tools. The Clinical Complex has also facilities of Intensive Care Unit, Indoor & Outdoor wards including Rest House for the farmers of indoor cases. VCC is having separate units for small and large animals with facilities for indoor and isolation wards. Along side a post mortem facility and a small slaughter house is also available for the training in the field of disease investigation for the students.

AMBULANCE CLINIC
An ambulatory clinic is operating to provide animal treatment at the doorstep of farmers and consultancy services on non -payment basis in the adopted villages in the suburb of Bharatpur. Apart from serving the animals at the doorstep of the farmers, the students also get an opportunity to interact, manage and treat the cases in animal health and treatment camps under the well qualified and experienced clinicians in various fields of specialization. Through this service students also notice the prevailing conditions in the field which may help them to know the probability of occurring certain animals problems in those prevailing situations.

LIVESTOCK FARM COMPLEX
Livestock Farm Complex is an independent department of MGVC. It imparts hands on training and practical orientation to the students. LLC has different livestock units viz. Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat, Camel, Equine, Pigs, Broiler and Layer units. Artificial insemination is in practice at the farm. Laboratory animal-house for rabbits and guinea pigs are maintained at the farm. A fodder cafeteria is maintained for demonstration of students. An open animal theater is also maintained for students’ teaching purpose in regard to control and judging animals for various purpose.

STUDENT'S ACCOMMODATION / HOSTEL
Double storey modern hostel building for boys to accommodate nearly 100 students is available having AC /Non-AC rooms. A separate independent girls hostel with double seated room is also available under the strict supervision of ladies staff. It is well equipped with modern facilities of indoor games, gymnasium, TV and reading room with modern dinning facilities. The college hostel mess is available to cater their meals. Air-conditioned rooms are allotted to the students on extra payment basis.

AUDITORIUM
A spacious air conditioned auditorium hall is available in the college building with power backup. It has a capacity of 400 seats, with audio visual cum LCD facilities. The auditorium is being used for meetings, cultural programme, social gatherings and for various programmes of interests for students.

LIBRARY
An excellent library having stacking and reading room 40x25ft is available for staff and students in the main building of the college. At present more than 500 books of different disciplines, scientific journals, copies of M. V. Sc. and Ph. D. thesis, departmental manuals, magazine and news papers are available. Card cataloging system is used for library references. Photocopier, computer with internet facilities are also available. The library is fully automated with internet facilities and e- journals. Open access system has been adopted to encourage the habit of library consultation among student and staff.

MEETING / CONFERENCE HALL
A spacious air-conditioned meeting / conference hall is also available in the college main building. It has a capacity of 150 seats. Interactive audio visual cum LCD facilities are available. These facilities are being used for meeting, technical seminar, professional competition and contest, personality development etc. A modern auditorium is also used for the large gatherings for the purpose.

GAMES AND SPORTS
There is an extensive play ground 200x200ft near to the main building and excellent facilities are available for indoor games. All the students are encouraged to take part in the games and sports activities. A modern and fully functional gymnasium is under construction. Students can be also use facility of the” Stadium’ in Bharatpur for hockey and football.

COMPUTER CELL/ARIS CELL
Computer centre is a centralized facility to provide computer- aided education and training to B.V. Sc. & A. H. students. These facilities are being used for developing audiovisual instructional materials for teaching and other academic activities. Teachers and students are motivated to use audiovisual aids (LCD projector and computer aided facilities) for better assimilation of the subject matter. These centralized facilities are being used to prepare innovative classroom charts, projection slides, presentations, instructional manuals, class notes and models. The faculty members motivate the students to prepare suitable demonstration charts, handouts and three-dimensional exhibits as an effective mode of learning. Agriculture Research Information System is used to expose or for acquainting students on latest development.

STAFF'S ACCOMMDATION
There are fully equipped staff quarters of different types, ranging from one – storeyed houses to multi -storeyed modern apartments. It is well equipped with modern facilities of indoor games, gymnasium, TV and reading room with modern dinning facilities. The network and Internet access has been extended to all buildings providing the students and staffs unlimited opportunities to unleash the power of the Internet.
