Mailam Engineering College (MEC) is a Top Class Engineering College in the Villupuram District of Tamil Nadu. It is a Self-Financing, Non-Minority, Co-Educational Institution established in the year 1998. Shri M Dhasekaran is the Founder-Chairman and Managing Director of the College, Dr K Narayanasamy is he Secretary. The aim of the College is to provide quality education to young people. The college also emphasizes the importance of value education, which teaches students the importance of things like integrity, honesty and respect.

Mailam Engineering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and some of its Academic Programs are also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Mailam Engineering College was ranked 272 in 2023 by India Today. In 2024, it was ranked 222 in the "Engineering (Private)" category and 253 in the "Engineering" category by India Today. The College has been accredited by TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) for Campus Placement. The cafeteria easily accommodates the ever growing student population and it is the perfect spot for a sustaining snack in the middle of hectic schedule in the pursuit of knowledge.MEC has an excellent library that houses the resources over 34,611 volumes of Technical, Humanities and Sciences and its related fields. It has subscription to GALE CENGAGE (IESTC & IMC) for full text e-journals. The titles and volumes in all the fields are constantly updated as per the recommendations given by the library committee.

MEC operates a fleet of 48 buses that cover over 60 destinations across Tamil Nadu, including key towns such as Villupuram, Neyveli, and Puducherry . This extensive network ensures that students from various regions have access to reliable transportation to and from the campus. The transportation service is optional for students. The annual charges range from ₹7,000 to ₹17,000, depending on the distance between the student's residence and the college.
