Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) is a dynamic institution of higher learning, set in a rural milieu of southern Tamil Nadu, with a campus spread of 550 acres.

The University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu as a teaching-cum-affiliating University on 7th September, 1990 to cater to the long-felt needs of the people of the three southern most districts of Tamil Nadu viz., Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari.

It is named after the renowned Tamil Poet scholar, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the author of the famous verse drama Manonmaniam. It is his poem that has become “Tamil Thaai Vazhthu” the official invocation song sung in all functions in Tamilnadu.

The main focus of the university is to produce individuals who have the expertise and intellectual curiosity to make a difference in their profession and the society and in conducting the research needed to meet the challenges facing the contemporary world. This is keeping us in line with the Vision-2023 document of our Honourable Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Ms. J. Jayalalitha, and her aim to impart quality higher education to the students.

Majority of the students of this University belong to rural and economically weaker sections of the society. Hence, this University imparts education at nominal and affordable cost. Admission Procedure

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, shortly referred to as MSU, was established in 1990 in Tirunelveli. It is a UGC recognized and NAAC accredited private university. The university offers MA., M.Sc., MCA, M.E., M.Ed., M.Tech., M.P.Ed., M. Com, and MBA courses at the PG level. M.Sc. (Integrated) programs are also available in the university. Additionally, there are library programs, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. This university also imparts education through distance learning. 

• Admissions to the Integrated M.Sc and M.Com courses, admissions are merit-based. 
• Admissions to M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, M.P.Ed, and M.Ed are based on the scores achieved in the University conducted examination. 
• Admission to the PG Diploma course, and the library programs, is also based on the University examination.

Admission Criteria

MSU Tirunelveli Integrated Degree Admissions 

The duration of these courses is 5 years. After completing the first 3 years the student shall be awarded UG Degree in the respective discipline provided he passes all the papers of the first three years. The Candidate can opt for multiple programs at the time of submission of application. The choice of program will be given on admission counseling. The date of admission counseling will be intimated later.

• The course is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. 
• The application process is the same as the integrated programs. 
• The ranking is based on the merit list prepared on the average of marks obtained in the Plus Two Part III out of 400 marks through counseling. 

MSU Tirunelveli Distance Education Admission 

Admission to all the courses offered at the distance center of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is merit-based. The students are required to present scores of the previous qualifying examination along with the admission fee and all the required documents.

• The University will send call letters to all the provisionally selected candidates for UG Admission. 
• Allotment of Study Centres will be made through Pre-Admission Counselling. 

MSU Tirunelveli Distance Education B.Ed Admissions 

• The candidates who have qualified in PG Degree (5 Years Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 pattern of study are eligible.
• Candidates must be currently working in schools recognized by the State or Central Government.

MSU Tirunelveli DDE Diploma, PG Diploma and Certificate Admissions 

• The admission to the Diploma / Certificate courses is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
• Course material is sent via post at the candidate’s address of correspondence within 15 days from the date of receipt of the application form.

MSU Tirunelveli Distance Education Application 

The application process for all the courses in Distance Education mode is common. The steps to apply are mentioned below: 

Online Application

• Visit the official website of the university or the application page.
• Read all the instructions, log in, and fill up the admission form. 
• Print it out and send it to the university at “The Director, Directorate of Distance & Continuing Education, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli , Tamil Nadu”, along with the necessary documents.
• Once the university verifies the documents and confirms the admission, login id and password will be sent to the student.

The Manonmaniam Sundaranar University library is located in a double storied building constructed in the front part of the University Campus. It is quite a spacious place and provides a separate space for journal and book users. The library users are facilitated with enough furniture to ensure better reading. Separate rooms are provided to carry out technical work and circulating books. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, a separate research section with research reports, is available to encourage research activities. With the help of the INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, a LAN is established for library automation, online bibliographical services and internet browsing.

The university conducts regular yoga sessions and meditation practices to encourage students toward a healthy lifestyle. It is also aimed at building their positive attitude and relieving them from feelings of burden and disappointment.The Manonmaniam Sundaranar University facilities include a gym with the latest equipment aided by trainers and physiotherapists for students and staff.

Transport

The Manonmaniam Sundaranar University campus has dedicated transport for the day scholars, covering the entire city. Route plans are chalked out, keeping in mind the convenience of the students. The institute has deployed twelve medium-sized buses to save time for students commuting to and from the institute.
