ABOUT MACE

Management 

Rivileged to be one of the five pioneers in Engineering education at the undergraduate level in Kerala state since 1961, this Government Aided institution is established, owned, and managed by the Mar Athanasius College Association. Mar Athanasius College Association is constituted as a Society registered under the Cochin Registration of Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act. The Institution is the second venture of this charitable society, the first being the Arts and Science College started in 1955. The Association also has Mar Athanasius International School and Mar Baselious College, Adimali, to its credit. Late Prof. M P Varghese, the great educational visionary, had been at the reins in this victory procession right from the founding.

A Governing body separately for MACE consists of representatives of Mar Athanasius College Association, All India Council for Technical Education, the State Govt., and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.

Dr. Winny Varghese, son of late Prof M P Varghese, is the secretary of the Association and the Chairman of the Governing Body.

ADMISSION RULES

The admissions to first year BTech and MCA course is based on the ranks obtained in the State Entrance Examinations conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations. Admissions to MTech aided courses are based on the rank list prepared by the DTE, Thiruvananthapuram. For all the above courses, 85% seats are admitted by the state Government and remaining 15% of the seats are filled by the management based on the ranks obtained in the list published by DTE. Engineering diploma holders are eligible for admissions to second year BTech based on the entrance test conducted by State Government Technical directorate. MTech in Computer Aided Structural Engineering and Production and Industrial Engineering are self financing courses. For both of these courses, 50% of the seats are filled by the management based on the ranklist published by the DTE.

Placement

An institution of global repute, Mar Athanasius College of Engineering (MACE) is one of the oldest centers of technical learning in the state and has pioneered in nurturing the dreams and ambitions of some of the brightest young minds in India. Established in 1961, the college is one of the first few technical colleges in Kerala. It has been instrumental in bringing up some of the best technocrats and entrepreneurs with both ethical and professional morals. The college is aided by the Government of Kerala and is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Presently, MACE is one among the few engineering colleges with all its UG courses accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

The Training and Placement Cell of MACE, serves to pursue global standards of excellence in all of its endeavours namely training, research, consultancy and continued education while remaining accountable for our core and support functions of creating qualified professionals. We aim to mould technically vibrant engineers to craft the needs of society and industry. TnP works tediously to ensure prospective employers consider MACE, thus students are given the optimum career prospects of their respective interests and choices.

The library is the heart of an educational institution. The library is regarded as a storehouse of knowledge and a living pool of culture. Its main objective is to provide the right information to the right user at the right time.

MACE Central Library is a spacious and well-designed three-storied building having a carpet area of 839.5 sq m. with a good collection of books, periodicals, and journals. The library plays an essential role in providing facilities for general reading. It disseminates information according to the requirements of the users of MACE. The library is fully automated, with more than 78000 volumes of textbooks and reference books in over 25641 titles. The library subscription to 51 international journals and 70 national journals . Bound volumes of the back issues of the leading journals and magazines are also available.

An open-source integrated library system (KOHA) is used for library management functions. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) can be accessed within the campus as well as outside. DSpace digital library helps the library users access the library's digital archives anywhere. Central Library subscribes to valuable foreign journals in the field of Engineering. An e-Library platform (Knimbus) is provided to access digital library facilities (E-Journals and E-books) by sitting anywhere in the world. In addition, under the central library, we have department libraries in each department that collectively support the teaching and research programmes of the institute.
