The Maruthupandiyar Institutions (MPI) are conceptualised with a spirit of service to the rural society in the year 1996 by Konnamuthu Maruthu Pandian. MPI over the years has built a confident, conscientious, self-sufficient and insightful society that can be empowered with knowledge and education. The institution is run by the Athivetti KarumuthuValli Educational and Charitable Trust with the social objective of providing scientific education by developing a link between the urban middle and rural poor thereby empowering the ever aspiring students to acquire requisite knowledge and skills at an affordable fee structure.

The MPI has deep notion of rendering services to the deserving candidates. Though the institution is located in the semi-urban area of Thanjavur, more than 70% of the students hail from rural areas in and around Thanjavur. The ultimate objective of the institution is to enable the individual to attain a responsible perfection by giving the right kind of education together with employable skills, character, exposure to the social environment and creating an awareness in all fields which transforms the individual into an “Ideal Person”.

The Placement Cell's goal is to place our students on-campus in the top businesses, provide them with the necessary training, and give them the self-assurance they need to succeed in the workplace. We utilize an integrated strategy to prepare our pupils for the workforce because we believe in the overall development of all of our students.

Students have received help from the placement cell in preparing for their future careers. We welcome corporate speakers to discuss the many employment prospects available in the market and how to research industry expectations. The final-year students receive skill-enhancement instruction in aptitude testing, resume writing, interviewing tactics, extempore and group discussion techniques, problem-solving, communication, and presentation.

A solid database of the Companies that visit our institute each year to hire our young people is built and maintained by the placement cell. We are pleased to report that numerous significant businesses have come to our campus to recruit.

Learn yourself
The library is well furnished and aerated with adequate volumes of books on various subjects. More than 25000 volumes of books in various faculties, over 30 national and international journals are stocked.
The library is fully computerised which gives all the details about the transactions and the stock. Apart from these, each and every department has its own mini library, which caters to the needs of their respective departments.
The latest publications on Computer Science, Information Technology, Bio-Technology, Biochemistry, and languages are available. Magazines on various subjects and reference books are made available in the reference section. The students are given extra time to refer to the books in the library.
The college also has a digital library that contains a good number of e-books and S/W’s. It has separate reference and issues sections. The library is governed by a qualified librarian and library assistant.
Laboratory
Bioscience
The school of biosciences has been working hard to deliver top-notch training and research. It offers comprehensive instruction in the core disciplines of the life sciences, including chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. The department has cutting-edge labs that give students a place to study in a contemporary setting and gain practical experience in key areas of life science. In order to fully understand theoretical concepts, hands-on instruction and experimentation are essential components of science. The college has four laboratories where biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, and genetics investigations can be conducted. These labs are well-stocked with high-tech equipment like PCR machines, UV spectrophotometers, UV transilluminators, image capture devices, Gerber centrifuges, deep freezers, digital colony counters, and other similar devices.
Hostel
Hostel facilities are available only for girls. The inmates of the hostel are taken utmost care of and are served delicious food. In addition to these indoor games, facilities are also provided. The study hours are strictly enforced.
Canteen
On the college campus, students have access to a canteen. The Canteen Committee, which is made up of staff members, makes unannounced visits to the establishments periodically to inspect and maintain the food's quality, affordability, and hygienic conditions.
VIP Multi-purpose hall
The college features a large multipurpose room that is nicely furnished with modern display tools. It can accommodate more than 200 people in its seats. It is mostly employed for running conferences, workshops, seminars, and focus groups for academics, students, peer groups, and outside specialists. Along with all of these, this hall also hosts a significant number of co-curricular activities, such as the celebration of anniversaries, milestones, national occasions, and college-related events.
Seminar Hall
The college includes a superb Seminar Hall with seating for 300 students at once that is well-furnished, ample, and large. The hall has all the necessary amenities, including a projector, audio-visual equipment, aids, and amplifiers, etc. In order to broaden the knowledge horizons of both the teaching staff and the students, the college regularly invites eminent academics and intellectuals from various fields to speak to the students and faculty on a variety of themes, academic issues, and other co-related topics. Additionally, competitive programmes in several academic fields are developed to showcase kids' abilities, potential, and overall growth.

The college has 8 buses to cater to the students hailing from different parts of the city. Separate buses are operated for boys and girls. It is compulsory for girls to travel by college bus. Town bus facilities are also available to the college from all parts of the city.
