MASS College of Arts and Science are situated on the Chennai National Highway, 11km from Kumbakonam in salubrious surroundings. It is run by M.A.S. Subbaiah Chettiar Educational and Charitable Trust. The College is a Co-Educational Institution with a built-in area of 42,000 sq.ft. It is a temple of learning in the temple city of Kumbakonam. It has spacious classrooms as well as state of art laboratories. Well experienced and qualified staff is an asset to the institution.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

ADMISSION POLICY

The applications forms for all the programmes shall be obtained from the college office, either in person or by post, by paying the prescribed fee. The application form may also be downloaded from the college website and submitted, either in person or by post, along with a DD for the prescribed cost of the application.

For PG programmes, the filled-in application form, along with xerox copies of the following documents should be submitted within 10 days of the publication of the UG Examination results of the Bharathidasan University.

For MBA & MCA, Those who qualify in TANCET Exam as per the policy of Tamilnadu Government may appear for MCA/MBA Counseling and can choose the institution[Institution code MCA : 465, MBA :467] through the counseling process.

Reservation Policy

Reservation policy of Tamilnadu government norms will be followed.

Eligibility

A student should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent recognized by the University.

Maths & Science group students may also join B.B.A., & B.Com., B.Com(CA) degree courses.

For joining B.Sc., (CS), B.C.A.,& B.Sc (S.D)., B.Sc.(Mathematics) a student should have studied Mathematics at higher secondary level.

For joining B.Sc., (Bio-Tech)., B.Sc.,(Chemistry) a student should have studied Biology at higher secondary level.

Pass in UG Degree in the concerned discipline is preferred for admission to PG degree.

PLACEMENT AND TRAINING

MASS College of Arts & Science , Kumbakonam offers excellent placement facilities to students. The placement cell functioning at the college sends invitation to the prospective company with required information on courses and students. In response to that, the company/organization sends back a job announcement form (JAF). JAF contains details on job offers like pay package, place of posting, bonus, and allowance. After verifying such details, the placement cell provide the company the date for campus visits. Pre placement training is another major responsibility of training and placement cell in MASS College. They take great care in grooming the soft skills of the students through personality development and soft skill development programmes.

Placement Procedure

There is a placement office functioning at the college to coordinate with the placement activities. The placement cell sends invitation to the prospective company with relevant information. In response to that, the company/organization sends back a job announcement form (JAF) containing details on job offers like pay package, place of posting, bonus, and allowance. After verifying such details, the company will be given with the date for campus visit.

Those companies that wish to conduct pre-placement talks can carry out the same with the permission of the placement cell. Moreover the filled in JAF will be made available to students to have a clear picture on the job offers. Interested students can appear for the placement process by signing its JAF. Companies can evaluate the resume of the participating students and can short list them on the basis of that. Short listed candidates can participate in the placement process and list of selected students will be informed to the placement cell. Selected students are not allowed to attend the placement process of other companies.

Pre Placement Training Programme

Pre placement training is another major responsibility of training and placement cell in MASS College. They take great care in grooming the soft skills of the students through personality development and soft skill development programmes. Training programmes are offered for pre final year students. The main objective behind this initiative is to improve the nurture students according to the industry requirement.

Best infrastructure facilities in MASS College also help in conducting campus placements. The computer labs of the college allow recruiters to conduct online aptitude test in a single turn. Pre placement talks are arranged at the spacious auditorium incorporated at the institute. Placement process in MASS College offers a win-win situation to both recruiters as well as students.

SCHOLARSHIP

The College makes it possible for deserving students to avail of different scholarships. On a merit-cum-need basis, students may apply for Management, Private and Government scholarships. Fee concessions are given to deserving students.

A number of scholarships and concessions are awarded annually to deserving students based on the results of the latest examinations. They are tenable for the period of the entire course on condition that the holders continue to study in the college till the end of their course and that their character, conduct and attendance continue to be satisfactory.

Help from the Student's Aid Fund and Orphans Aid are available to deserving students of all communities. Applications for the same are to be submitted before the end of the first semester. Government and College Scholarships will be given to deserving students. Applications for the Government scholarship should be submitted on or before 15th July of within 15 days of their admission in the College.

MASS LIBRARY

A comfortable and spacious seating arrangement provides a complete academic atmosphere in each library where students can sit and concentrate. The catalogue of books helps students to identify their needs and quick reference. It is updated regularly as the new books are added. A Display Board has also been provided in the Library where students can view interesting articles and news-clippings directly.

Objectives of the library: The main objective of the library is to provide documents, information and environment that can be helpful in imparting education, promoting research and development thereby leading to improved patient care.

The library working hours are 9.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m. on all weekdays and Saturdays. The library is closed on Sundays and all Public holidays.

LABORATORIES

The College provides world- class lab facilities for each department. 10 laboratories and one Language Laboratory are fully equipped with modern instruments to experience the research environment. The students are motivated to employ their minds in research work for their advancement. These Laboratory are adding feathers in the institute’s crown.Our college has an Internet connected modern computer lab with sufficient systems to enrich and update students’ knowledge.

To face the technological challenges, we provide our aspirants with wide spectrum of latest well equipped laboratories in all the Electronics, Computers, Visual Communication and Biological research centre. These facilities help our students to avoid capsule-based learning and in turn encourages in depth analysis of subjects. RO PLANT

The Institution has Reverse Osmosis Plant to provide Drinking water to the college. The entire college campus is facilitated with pure Reverse Osmosis (RO) drinking water cater to the need of pure and safe drinking water to all. The water treatment plant provides safe drinking water at every tap on the campus. A high level of maintenance attention and regular testing ensure the quality of the water. Water treatment plant with reverse osmosis technology is available to provide quality drinking water.

SPORTS

Participation in games and sports invariably ensures good health, fitness and, generally, freedom from ailments of various types. Physical fitness is essential for proficiency in studies and for winning distinctions in examinations. Ailing bodies do not make for sharp brains. Exercise in some form or another is necessary, and sports provide an easy method to ensure such fitness. Playing the game on the playground naturally instructs people to play the game of life in the right spirit, which is what matters most, not victory or defeat.The College provides facilities for the following games and sports.

Athletics

All the students of the College are members of the Athletic Association. The Physical Director is the secretary of the association. The activities of the association shall be managed by a sports Committee. Intramural sports and tournaments are conducted every year. Players and Athletes selected for college teams should play for the college only.

CAFETERIA FACILITIES

- A variety of hygienic food & snack items which includes Cakes, Fresh Juices, Chinese Food, Meals, Variety Rice, Ice Creams, etc. are served at a nominal rate.

- It is mainly used by the students and staff.

- Separate common Tables for boys and girls and staff are available.

Our college is running its own bus, for the benefit of the staff member and students coming from various parts of the city. Because of this transport facility, all are reaching their destination on time
