Admission Procedure

Admission to Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) in New Delhi is based on national entrance exams: NEET for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program and NEET-MDS for postgraduate (MDS) programs. Candidates must also meet specific eligibility criteria, which for BDS includes 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, and a minimum aggregate schore.

BDS- 5 Years Course

Admission Process 

• Candidates must appear for the NEET (UG) examination (the national entrance test for undergraduate medical/dental courses). 

• Seat distribution:

  • 15% of the total BDS seats at MAIDS are filled under the All‑India Quota (AIQ) via central counselling. 

  • 85% of seats are under the State / Delhi University quota (for Delhi region) via counselling. 

• After NEET‑UG result, candidates register for counselling (through authority such as the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) for AIQ and relevant state/university body for state quota).

• Once allocated a seat, complete document verification, pay fees, and complete admission formalities at MAIDS.

Eligibility

• A candidate must have passed 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English as subjects. 

• General category: minimum 50% aggregate marks in these subjects taken together. SC/ST category: minimum 40%.

• Alternatively, a B.Sc. degree with any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) with 50% marks, and English + the other subjects passed at higher secondary level. 

• The candidate must be at least 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year of admission

MDS- 3 Yaers Course

Admission Process

• Appear for NEET MDS.

• Counselling is done for MDS seats: 50% of PG seats are on All‑India basis and 50% under State quota for MAIDS. 

• Registration for counselling and choice‑filling via official portals. Once seat is allotted, candidate completes admission formalities at MAIDS

Eligibility

• Candidate must possess a BDS degree from a recognised university. 

• Must have completed compulsory rotating internship after BDS before applying. 

• Must qualify the national level examination for dental postgrad: NEET MDS
