Meenakshi Ammal Dental College & Hospital are one of the reputed Pvt. Dental Colleges located in Maduravoyal, Tamil Nadu established in the year 1990-91 under the aegis of Meenakshi Ammal Trust.  It is a constituent college of MAHER – Meenakshi Ammal Academy of Higher Studies & Research (Deemed to be University).   The Trust which was coined in the year 1983 by Mrs.D.Meenakshi Ammal, a well-known philanthropist, functions to serve the needy communities in our society.  The college works with a noble cause for providing quality education to deserving students. There are multiple institutes initiated by the Trust in the fields of Medicine, Engineering, Paramedical institutes, Hospitals, Dental and more.

MADCH is one of the few Dental Colleges to be located within the city limits on Alapakkam Main Rd, Janaki Nagar, Maduravoyal, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  The dental college spreads over a sprawling 5.12 acres with a total built up area of 4,12,694 sq.feet encompassing the College and Hospital Buildings.

Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital is recognized by the Dental Council of India and is well known for its reputation. It has received several accreditations from both Government and Non-Government agencies with non-biased reviews. The journey of MADCH started way back in the year 1990, when it was affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University.  Since then, this institution has grown leaps and bounds to become one of India’s finest dental colleges.  Later in 2004, it was declared as a constituent college of MAHER (Deemed to be University) by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, under section 3 of the UGC act of 1956.  The major accreditations include NAAC, NIRF and ISO.  The college has secured 24th rank among the dental colleges during the year 2021.  For the first time, MADCH was awarded an ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2006.  Since then, the institute has been striving to raise the standard of dental education on par with global standards and to perform high-quality dental research that will benefit the public.

MADCH offers BDS and MDS Degree programs in the UG, PG levels.  It also offers UG Diploma programs.  The criteria for admission to the BDS program is NEET entrance exam and for MDS it is NEET MDS.  For students opting for UG Diploma courses the eligibility is CBSE 12^th ISC+1.

Admission Process 

• Admission is based on NEET‑UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test). 

• Selection is done via counselling, according to the merit list. 

Eligiblity

• Eligibility (qualifying exam):

  • 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. 

  • Minimum marks: 50% in PCB for general category; for SC/ST/OBC, the minimum is 40%. 

• Age: Candidate must be at least 17 years old on or before December 31 of the admission year. 

• Reservation: Seats are reserved according to Tamil Nadu state/reservation policies. 

MDS 

Admission Process

• NEET‑MDS Percentile Requirements (for admission):

  • General: 50th percentile

  • Persons with locomotor disability (lower limbs): 45th percentile

  • SC / ST / OBC: 40th percentile 

• The academic session for MDS typically begins on 1st May, and the final cutoff for admissions (even stray vacancies) is 31st May of that year.

Eligiblity

• Must have BDS degree from a recognised institution. 

• Must have completed 1-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI) by 31st March of the admission year. 

• Must be registered (provisional or permanent) with a State Dental Council.

1. MAHER Scholarship

   • Merit-based scholarship for students with very high academic marks. 

   • Also considers socially disadvantaged students: e.g., children of single parents with low income, ex‑servicemen, physically challenged students, first-generation graduates. 

   • Renewal application is required for continuing students. 

2. Meenakshi Scholarship

   • Designed for students who need financial support, who may come from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

   • Eligibility includes single-parent families (low income), SC/ST students, first-generation graduates. 

   • Also rewards students for extracurricular or co‑curricular achievements (state/national level sports, science, arts, etc.). 

   • Academic performance criterion: students with a certain minimum percentage in previous semester / year can apply. 

3. MAHER Merit Scholarship

   • Specifically mentioned in the MAHER prospectus as a separate category. 

   • Likely based purely on academic merit.

4. MAHER Sports Scholarship

   • For students who excel in sports.
