Muthayammal Engineering College (MEC), Namakkal was established in the year 2000 under the aegis of Muthayammal Educational Trust and Research Foundation, with the motto to uplift the rural community through Technical Education.  The Trust was founded in the year 1984 in Namakkal District by Founder and Former Chairman, Late. Shri. R. Ramasamy.  It is named after his beloved mother Late Tmt. Muthayammal.  The Muthayammal Educational Trust and Research Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established in 2009 that works primarily in the domain of Education, Sports and Technology. Its primary office is in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. 

The main objective of Muthayammal Engineering College is to provide advanced knowledge and education to students in Science and Technology and also teach Research, and Innovation, and pursue its mission of service to the nation and the world.  Over the past 23 year, the college has grown into a reputed institution and is steadily progressing with aim to become Centre of Excellence in Engineering Education, Research and Development.  Shri R. Kandasamy is the Chairman of Muthayammal Engineering College, Namakkal.

MEC is located in a sprawling 12 acre campus amidst serene setting surrounded by greenery.  It is in Kakkaveri, Rasipuram, Namakkal District, TamilNadu.  Salem Airport is about 52 km away and will take up to an hour to reach.  The college is nearly 35 km from Salem Railway Junction and will take about 40 minutes to reach.  Students can take a bus, cab or an auto to reach the college.

Muthayammal Engineering College, Namakkal is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University.  It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).  The college is also approved by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

A range of Degree programs like BE/BTech, ME, MBA, MCA and PhD are offered by Muthayammal Engineering College.  For BE/BTech admissions, candidates are required to appear for TNEA.  For M.B.A. and M.C.A. admissions, candidates need to sit for TANCET MBA and TANCET MCA respectively. To get admission in Ph.D., students need to appear for a written test followed by an interview.

SC-ST – SCHOLARSHIP

Students who belong to Scheduled castes / scheduled tribes are eligible to apply for the award of the scholarships. Annual income should be less than 2.5 lakhs.

Central Sector Scholarship

The scheme of providing incentives to all UG and PG Students. UG Students they must Scored 80% of marks in 12th Standard and PG Students Scored 80% of Marks in Semester Exams. (First Attempt).

Students who are getting any other government scholarship are not eligible to this Scheme.

Annual income should be less than 6 lakhs.

Prize Scheme for SC/ST students

Students who appeared for final year university examination, both UG & PG courses, they must score 60% of marks in First Attempt, May apply for the SC/ST Prize scheme.

SC/ST Ph.D., Scholarship

The scheme of providing incentives to the full time Ph.D scholars for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste Converted Christians

Eligibility:

Income limit: Family income shall be less than Rs.8 lakhs per annum

Caste: Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste Converted Christians.

Age: Age limit for male applicants is 50 years on the date of receipt of applications and age limit for female applicants is 55 years on the date of receipt of applications.

Educational Qualification:

A minimum of 55% of marks in the aggregate in the qualifying master degree examination.

The Scholar should not receive any other monetary benefits / Scholarship / Fellowship from any other source.

Employees of any university / College / Educational Institutions / Central/ State / UT Government shall be excluded from availing fellowship, even if they are on study leave or extra ordinary leave.

Post Metric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities (BC – CHRISTIANS & BCM - MUSLIMS)

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose Parents/Guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2 Lakhs

• Facilities and Infrastructure:

  The college believes in imparting knowledge and skill through best-of-learning-teaching practices. The vision of the college is to be a center of excellence in Engineering, Technology, and Management on par with International Standards. Following are some of the facilities offered by the College: lege has its own fleet of transport to pick up students from Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Tiruchengode, etc., and covers almost every important location situated within a radial distance of 55 KM. The College is presently using 45 buses out of 150 buses owned and operated by Mahendra Educational Trust.

  Library

  MES Library was established in 1994. It has 26,551 volumes of text and reference books on various disciplines. The library subscribes to 80 National and International journals and 07 leading Newspapers. The library is following the open access system and provides its service to meet the requirements of P.G.Students, M.Phil., and Ph.D. scholars, and staff members of the College.   Hostel:

  Separate hostels for UG students, and PG students are available. Hostel rooms are bath attached. Realizing the importance of providing pure and clean water to all students, the Management has set up mineral-water plans at a great cost. Hygienically prepared Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is supplied to the hostellers.

  Internet facility:

  A 1-Gbps dedicated Internet connectivity is provided to all the departments through the local area network, which provides the opportunity for all to stay in touch with the latest Information.

  Sports:

  Necessary equipment and facilities for regular practice. Gymnastic equipment is provided in our college. Fee concession to the students admitted in the sports quota (those represented national, State, Divisional, and District level tournaments after evaluation) Uniforms to the participants free of cost. Special prizes to the University, State, and National participants.

  Placements:

  Being an Engineering College, the college has a dedicated placement cell that arranges placement for the students. The aim of the cell is to find the “Right Job for the Right candidate”. The Department of Training and Placement interacts with reputed organizations all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the placement of final-year students. It makes efforts to send most of the students for in-plant training to enhance their technical ability and gain exposure to the practical world. Various activities are carried out to make them more employable and provide input to the students to take up competitive examinations.
