With the motto of “Service to Humanity”, the management had started ‘Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science’ on 19-7-1996 and it flourished in the keen thought of educating rural women. The college was affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University initially. As per the Government order the College was affiliated to Mother Teresa Women’s University from the academic year 2003-2004. It is the endeavor of the institution to be certified with the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 award since 2006. It is approved Under 2(f) & 12(B) Status of UGC. It has been Nationally Re-Accredited with ‘B+’ Grade by NAAC.

Over the past twenty years it has grown to become the leading self-financing college in imbibing quality education to the rural women folk and has been well established in offering 14 UG Courses, 12 PG Courses, 6 Research, 3 PG Diploma Courses and 24 Value Added Courses. The college is offering distance education courses from the academic year 2014 – 2015.

The college provides transportation facility to the faculty and students for commuting to the college from various places through its adequate number of vans and buses.

The college has an excellent canteen facility to provide healthy and hygienic food at cheapest price to the student community.

The college maintains a beautifully laid out hostel with full –fledged modern amenities for the students. Every student is provided with individual chair and cot. Reading room is available in the hostel. Facilities for games like Volleyball, Ball Badminton and Tennikoit are available within the hostel. A well knitted dining hall is available for the students. Laboratory

Language Lab

This is the only college in Theni District to have two air-conditioned Language Labs at the cost of Rs.30 Lakhs. This lab provides interactive Language lab recorder and head set for each student. In addition to this, the lab has been embedded with 32 cabins for providing privacy to the students. The aim of the lab is to impart a culture of accuracy in language for communication by giving ample practice. The second lab is equipped with Audio visual Aid to play VCD’s to help the students learn effective speaking. The lab also provides voice recording for the students to test themselves. ETNL software has been installed for the progress of conversation practice for the benefit of students.

Laboratory of Micro Biology

The excellent laboratory of the department has several equipments worth more than Rs.20 Lakhs for doing innovative research and practical. A plant tissue lab is setup for tissue culturing activities with a cost of 5 Lakhs. The department is extending its arms towards extended activities in developing a polybag free zone and solid waste recycling through activities like Vermicomposting, mushroom cultivation, Parthenium Eradication Campaign, Aqua culturing, herbal gardening and paper bag making.

Laboratory of Bio Chemistry

The Department has a well-furnished Laboratory with all latest equipments worth Rs. 7 Lakhs. UV Spectrometer, Laminar Airflow, precisa Electronic Balance etc., are helpful for the students to learn the latest technology in their filed. The lab also gives additional exposure to the students for ELISA, PCR and blotting techniques.

Laboratory of Chemistry

The laboratory is fully equipped with necessary equipments worth more than  Rs. 10 Lakhs .The students entering the chemistry laboratory gain a good knowledge and practical skill to do their work successfully.

PHYSICS LABORATORY

This lab has designed facilities to perform most of the experiments for post graduate, undergraduate and for allied physics students. The lab covered the area of laminated working tables for electronics experiments and with a separate dark room for performing various optics experiments. Having facility to do various experiments relate to the field of optics, fibre optics, heat, electricity & magnetism, electronics and modern physics, thereby covering the entire span of the syllabus. The setup of the M.Sc Physics Laboratory has been initiated and this state of art laboratory will provide a hands-on experience to the students in experiments related to the different courses being taught to them. This laboratory will include experiments from the fields of condensed matter physics, electronics etc.

The major equipment available are Four Probe Experiment Setup, Audio Frequency Oscillator,Transistor Characteristics (CE Mode), CRO Double Trace, CRO Single Trace, Telescope, Sonometer, Potentiometer, Carey Foster’s Bridge, Meld’s string Apparatus, Travelling Microscope, Spectrometer, Newton’s ring setup, Stokes apparatus with glass tube, Conductivity Meter, Magnetic Stirrer with Hot Plate, Quinck’s Experimental Setup, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope etc.,

Laboratory of Computer Science

This Lab is having well equipped centralized computer Centre to cater to the needs of high profile students and faculty in the college. It is housed in a magnificent state of art building having specialized laboratories to provide variety of platforms and computing environment for UG, PG students. The Centre processes 400 systems with Core i3 processors, Core Duo processors, Pentium IV processors and with 4 IBM servers.

Internet Lab

This is the only college in Theni District which has launched this kind of lab at the cost of Rs.35 Lakhs. This lab consists of 64 systems with 100 mbps speed of transmission through   WI-FI.

Visual Communication Lab

This lab furnished with 50 high speed systems with upgraded configuration. It is also enriched with surrounding sound system and an LCD Projector for interactive teaching.

 Multimedia Lab

This lab is furnished with 40 high speed systems with upgraded configuration. It is also having LCD Projector for effective teaching by giving demonstration about computer Softwares

Digital Library

This lab is furnished with 48 high speed systems with i5(4th gen) core processors with internet connection. This lab is functioning for digital library with DELNET and INFLIBNET software for students E-resources utilization.

Library

The NSCAS Library was established in 1996. It moved to the present building in 2006, stocking over 24000 books. The Library has been computerized for circulation and searching of books with ELIFA Software. The total area of the Library building is about 2948 sq.ft. All the reading rooms in our library have been air conditioned. The main aim of the central Library is to provide information services and access to print and E – resources to support the Scholarly and informational needs of the institute Community. The fully computerized central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, print and E-journals, CD-ROMs, audio, video cassettes and project reports, etc. Open Access system is being followed in the Central Library.

Rules

o    Strict silence should be maintained inside the Library.

o    Users must keep their bags/belongings (other than valuables) at the Property Counter before entering the Library.

o    On any account, bags and own copies of Book materials should not be brought inside the Library.

o    Users must enter in the Library gate register kept at the entrance while entry/exit to record their entry into the library.

o    Since the bar coding transaction is done for the book materials, the students are asked to bring their identity card without fail.

o    Newspapers should be read only outside the Library in the veranda of the Library.

o    Book should be returned on or before the date last marked or a fine of Re.1/- will be charged for each day.

o    If any pages of the books & Journals are missing, the person concerned should pay fine.

o    If the books taken in a good condition are returned in a damaged manner, they should pay the fine amount without delay.

o    Issue, Return and Renewal of the books are done only through the Library counter.

o    Marking with either pen or pencil in the Library books should strictly be avoided.

o    If any book /journal are brought out of the library with out proper entry serious action will be taken.

o    Misplacement of books in the different shelves is punishable.

o    Hostel

The hostel of Nadar Saraswathi College is located in the kind lap of nature. The hostel instigates 40 rooms with 250 students. The hostel at present has the competence to accommodate 347 students with 120 rooms. The separate well sophisticated dormitory is available for Matriculation School students. The strength of Arts and Science students are 279, Engineering College students are 22, B.Ed. college students are 19 and Matriculation school students are 27. Totally students reside in the hostel are 347. The students are endowing with accommodation of 4 in number tenancy basis.

Every student is provided with individual cot and chair. A well sophisticated dining hall is available for the students to take their food. Each student is provided with a balanced diet of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The mess is run on dividing system. Regular visit of physician is arranged. The amenities for indoor and outdoor games are also available.

The Hostel students are provided with pure hot and cold mineral water facilities inside the hostel for the wellbeing of the student’s health. The power cut is well administer with generators which help the student in carrying out their daily activities without disturbances. After the college working hours, the facilities for the usage of library and internet lab are available exclusively only for the hostel students. Every student has an individual profile covering details about them as well as their academic facts are intimated to their parents through their profile. Tutor ward system is maintained to identify the problems among the students and special care is taken for each and every student. Recently we introduced 8 smart phone card systems for contact with their parents. Our hostel is the home for the students of Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Nadar Saraswathi College of Education, Nadar Saraswathi College of Engineering and Technology and Nadar Saraswathi Girl’s Matriculation School, Vadapudupatti.
