The institution was founded by Dr. P. Narayana under the Narayana Educational Trust. Admission to the MBBS program is strictly based on NEET-UG qualification, followed by centralized counselling conducted by MCC (for All India Quota) and state counselling authorities for management and NRI quotas. For MD/MS courses, candidates must qualify NEET-PG, while DM/MCh admissions require NEET-SS qualification.

Eligibility criteria:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (for general category candidates) and 40% marks (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in aggregate.
  
• For Govt. only students having a domicile of Andhra Pradesh will be able to participate. For Private medical colleges of Andhra Pradesh, both domicile and Non-domicile students can participate.
