Admission Procedure
NIT Trichy offers admission to B.Tech program in 9 specialisations, in which computer science & engineering is the best specialisation. For admission to the B.Tech program, candidates must have passed 10+2 in the Science stream, with a minimum of 75%. They also need to appear for JEE Main examination, followed by JoSAA counselling. The JEE Main Cutoff rank for 2025 ranged between 151 - 18304. The registration process for the JEE Main usually begins in last week of october for the first session and first week of february for second session.

- The institute hospital is located within the campus, it is located amidst the hostel/residential zone and the academic zone.
- The NITT Hospital provides primary health care round the clock on all the days.
- NITT Hospital has casualty, OP & IP facilities, 24 hours fully equipped ambulance, 24 hours pharmacy and a clinical laboratory working during 07:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m.
Library
The Institute has a modern Central Library with more than two and a half lakhs of documents consisting of Technical books, reports, standards, CD-ROMS, Audio Visual Educational Cassettes, and back volumes of journals. The library subscribes to 83 periodicals (print) plus 8210+ e-Journals and 1995+ e-books besides a holding of 17690 back volumes of journals. The library also contains 16,750 books in the Book Bank scheme.
Digital Knowledge Centre has been established with 35 Computer systems with an internet connection. Wi-Fi facility has been provided for laptop users. CCTV Web cameras have been fixed in the Central Library and the entire building is under camera surveillance. RFID Technology of Document Identification and Library Security System has been implemented for the library functions and services from 29th March 2013.
Sports
- The Sports Centre which is the hub of sports activities was inaugurated 1999.
- The Sports Centre is a multi-facility multi-disciplinary sports complex aimed at developing well-rounded personalities of students. The building has an indoor stadium with two shuttle courts and a fitness centre. The construction of the Sports Centre has been carried out by the State P.W.D. at a cost of Rs. 97 lakhs.
- The Director has ordered two more indoor stadiums which can accommodate two shuttle courts as well as a couple of table tennis tables in the student hostel avenue.
- The fitness centre which also has a wooden flooring houses many exercise machines such as multi-station gym, tread mill, stairs, air walker, rowing machine, exercycle and so on. These are used by the students, staff and other residents of the campus.
Smart Class room
The classroom complex (ORION and LOGOS) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli serves as the academic nucleus of the institution, providing a conducive environment for learning and intellectual growth. Laboratories
The OCTAGON - Computer Center is the sterling hallmark of this campus was opened with the theme of "Dare to Dream". This center serves the campus-wide LAN in close association with the user departments. This LAN caters to about 7500 users across the campus (using Wired connection and through Wireless). It has a 10 Gbps fiber optic backbone interconnecting the departments/buildings. It also acts as a resource centre to supplement classroom instructions with laboratory sessions.
The OCTAGON (Main Computer Center), TwinNet (Annex1) and Third i (Annex2) buildings accommodates the central computing facilities, it has a server room with 40 high-end servers and there are 9 laboratories (4 labs in Octagon building, 2 labs in the TwinNet (Annex1) and 3 labs in the Third i (Annex2) building) with totally 750+ high-end computers.
Hostel
- There are 22 boys' and 6 girls' hostels. Together they accommodate 6966 undergraduate,postgraduate students and research scholars.One more hostel is under construction.

24 x 7 Security Service
- The Security department comprises the Security Officer , three Sergeants and 41 security guards. The guards are divided into three sections and allotted duties round the clock in three shifts on rotation basis. One Sergeant is posted in each shift to supervise the security guards. Most of the security guards are retired defense service personnel. Their supreme duty is to look after the assets of the Institution besides maintaining law and order on the campus.
- Recently two barriers have been installed, one near the college main gate and the other near quarters gate. Security Guards are posted round the clock in these two points. The in-coming and out-going vehicles are thoroughly checked and entries are made in registers.
- To maintain strict discipline and good turn-out, parades are conducted every week. All guards are issued livery like uniforms, shoes, caps, belts, etc.
