NLSIU was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. The premier law school was set up with a mission to pioneer legal education reforms, and to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions.
Consequently, the NLSIU was one of the first institutions in the country to introduce the five-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level with the commencement of the first batch in 1988.

NLSIU Bangalore Admission Process
National Law School of India University, Bangalore offers admissions to courses at the UG level and at the PG level. NLSIU Bangalore admission is based on the entrance exam. NLSIU BA. LLB. is based on CLAT and LLM admission is based on CLAT PG score. Admission to MPP is done on the basis of NLSAT- MPP and NLSIU Ph.D admission is based on NLSAT-Ph.D. Candidates need to apply for NLSIU courses by filling up the application form.

NLSIU Bangalore Placements
NLSIU Bangalore placements are managed by its career services team which connects students with various internship and placement opportunities. The career services team of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore advises and engages students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to provide career assistance. As per the NIRF report 2023, the NLSIU Bangalore median salary offered to UG students was Rs 16,00,000 and the median salary offered to PG students was Rs. 8,25,000. During NLSIU Bangalore placement drive 65 UG students and 28 PG students were placed.
NLSIU Placement Cell
National Law School of India University Bangalore placement cell is a group of trained people responsible for providing students with all guidance required to ace the interview rounds. The team trains the students for internship and post-graduation placement to ensure long, fulfilling careers. Furthermore, the cell maintains transparent communication between the companies and the University. The placement updates are continuously informed to the students as well.
NLSIU Bangalore placements rank amongst the top 10 law colleges in Bangalore. The University provides students with the resources required to ace the recruitments. With various top companies joining in the placement drive, NLSUI Bangalore aims to improve its placement scenario each year. Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant and Infosys are a few of the top names that join the placement drive.
First and second-year students are encouraged to take an internship of 3-4 weeks around February or March every year. Third, fourth and final year students must take 4-6 weeks of internships. The placement cell monitors and facilitates smooth placement processes.

Private Scholarships
Aditya Birla Scholarship
M/s. Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, awards scholarships to students depending on their CLAT ranking, i.e., the trust awards scholarships to students who score in the top 20 percentile in the CLAT. The NLSIU is not involved in the candidate selection process in any way. The Aditya Birla scholarship covers the entire fee, including hostel charges (up to Rs. 1,80,000), and will continue till the degree is completed.
ICCR Scholarship
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, awards scholarships to international students based on their criteria. The ICCR will notify the university of the names of the selected candidates, and candidates will be required to submit their joining reports in the prescribed format. ICCR provides a scholarship equivalent to Indian citizens that covers the entire fee, including hostel costs.
Colive Scholarship
Colive offers financial aid to first-year students. The scholarship covers 6 months of lodging/hostel costs except for food, laundry, and power. The following are the National

The annual household income is less than 6 lakhs rupees.
A 60 percent or higher in Class XII.
A statement of purpose will be required to fill out an application form for 60% of the scholarship reservations.
It should clarify the reason for applying to a certain course at a specific university and information about the candidate.
Management quota will account for 20% of the reservation, while financial status will account for 20% (the university will select students based on their requests).

The NLSIU Bangalore campus is committed to providing students with facilities such as remote access to library resources, learning experiences through various digital mediums, and digital processes for submitting, accessing, and searching for research projects.
The university uses the OPAC to give students access to many resources, tools, and databases.
Hostel
There are three halls of residence for men known as Ganga, Cauvery, and Himalaya and three Halls of Residence for women known as Nilgiris, Annexe, and Mess Block.
Students of the first year are generally provided with separate accommodation. While the first-year students are allotted dormitories, from the second year onwards, they have the option of triple seater rooms, which are T-shaped and, once a curtain is drawn across the entrance, each becomes a private cubicle.
Women students have a choice of twin seaters and triple seater rooms. There are also a few single rooms available in NLSIU Bangalore hostels. These are usually given to students in their final year. Students are each provided with a cot, cupboard, chair, and desk. They are advised to bring their own mattresses, curtains, and bed linen.
NLSIU hostels have a 24-hour running hot water facility. Laundry facilities are also made available. As Bangalore experiences cold weather from November-January, students are advised to bring blankets and warm clothing.
Dining
The NLSIU is designing a comprehensive plan for all catering services on campus, including the boys hostel, girls hostel, canteen, training centre regions, and a hostel mess. The cafe can accommodate roughly 60 people. It offers various meal and snack options.
Gym
The NLSIU Bangalore campus area has a well-ventilated gym equipped with sufficient restrooms, showers, and changing rooms.
Housekeeping workers follow enhanced safety rules to ensure that the facility is regularly cleaned and sanitised.
Sports
The National Law School of India University Bangalore campus has upgraded its sports facilities. It has a new 200-meter running track near the football field. The football field, basketball court, throwball court, volleyball courts, tennis court, and badminton courts are available. The university is also actively exploring collaborations to establish a specialised sports centre on campus in the near future.
Creche
The NLSIU campus has started an in-house crèche as part of the services. The crèche is located behind the training centre, which used to be the Gymnasium.
Health Centre
There is a health centre for health emergencies. The college has an institutional arrangement with S.K. Hospital, Nagarbhavi, situated close by, provides hospital attention, including in-hospital care where required. There is a qualified nurse at the health centre.
Bank
The NLSIU facilities include a Corporation Bank functioning six days a week. It also provides ATM facilities. There is also a branch of the SBI with an ATM about a 5-minute walk from the campus, where many students have accounts. Other banks like ICICI, UTI, HDFC, and Citibank have ATM counters in Vijayanagar, 3 km from the Law School.
Library
The library has an open access system to facilitate readers easy access to the library resources.
The NLSIU Library has also established links with other important libraries to provide inter-library access for the benefit of students and teachers.
An orientation program is also organised for new students to help them acquaint themselves with the library system.
