Established in the year 2001, named after Meenakshi Hegde, wife of the Founder of Nitte Education Trust, Justice K.S. Hegde, NMIT is affiliated to VTU Belagavi and one of the youngest Engineering colleges in the Country to be conferred the prestigious Autonomous Status by the UGC in the year 2007 itself, and also is accredited with NBA (Tier-1) and NAAC ‘A+’ Grade and Platinum Grade by AICTE-CII apart from figuring in 151-200 Rank Band in India among technical institutions, and in 101-150 Rank Band under Innovation Ranking by the NIRF, Ministry of Education, Government of India in the year 2023.

NMIT Bangalore Admission Process

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), Bangalore offers a total of 38 courses at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology courses include BE, M.TEch, MBA, MCA and Ph.D. NMIT Bangalore BE admission is based on the scores obtained in the KCET or COMEDK UGET exams. Once the results are announced, a cutoff is released. Candidates who meet the NMIT Bangalore cutoff must participate in a counselling process, during which seats are allocated based on merit. For Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology admission to the M.Tech programmes at NMIT, candidates must take the Karnataka PGCET / GATE followed by counselling.

NMIT Bangalore Ph.D Admission Process
Candidates must first fulfil the eligibility criteria.
Candidates need to register on the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) website to take the VTU Eligibility Test for Research (VTU-ETR).
Candidates must score at least 50% marks in the VTU-ETR.
Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE/ CAT/M. Phil is exempted from the entrance test.
Qualified candidates need to fill out the NMIT application form and attend an interview.
A merit list will be prepared based on the scores of VTU-ETR and the interview. A separate merit list will be prepared for candidates in the exempted category.
Finally, selected candidates must submit the necessary documents and pay the fees to confirm the admission.

NMIT Bangalore Scholarship

NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore provides many scholarships to meritorious and deserving candidates. NMIT scholarships are SC/ST Fee Concession Scholarship, Back Ward Class Fee Concession Scholarship, Minority students Scholarship, Jindal Merit Scholarship, Prathibha Puraskar scholarship, Kittur Rani Channamma Scholarship and Scholarship provided by Municipal Corporation. To avail of the scholarships, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria. NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore scholarships are provided either on the basis of merit or to the candidates belonging to a minority group or to reserved categories. The reserved category candidates have to show the income certificate. The eligibility criteria of all NMIT scholarships are given in detail in the table below.

Education Loans

Getting Education is no longer an insurmountable problem these days. Education loans are available to the needy and deserving students from the Nationalized Banks at reasonable rates of interest. Theses loans are repayable after the completion of the degree/diploma.

Financial Help

Academically intelligent and poor students to acquire higher education by giving them financial help in the form of tuition fee waiver. Relaxation in tuition fee is also given to merit position holders in the qualifying examinations/competitive examinations and position holders in the University examinations. The parents of meritorious students are also honoured along with the students in the annual functions of the Colleges.

NMIT Campus Facilities
The NMIT has a wide range of facilities provided to students. Some of these are mentioned below:

Classrooms: Well organised and furnished classrooms, as well as digital boards, are installed in every class to make sure a student must have a better learning experience.

Library: The library & information centre has a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, audio/video cd-rooms, e-resources in engineering, basic sciences, management and general subjects to cater for the needs of faculty members, research scholars, staff, and students. Every department has its own Departmental Library. It also housed a digital library which has 40 computers with an internet facility. The Library has a collection of 48,600 books in various disciplines, 130 print journals, and several online subscribed journals.

Hostel: NMIT provides in-campus hostels for both boys and girls. Twin sharing rooms are available for 1st-year students. Second-year onwards boys may opt for twin sharing or four sharing rooms.
