Nadar Mahajana Sangam S. Vellaichamy Nadar College was started in 1965 by the “Nadar Mahajana Sangam” with the encouragement of the generous donations received from philanthropic members of the Sangam. Kodaivallal, Kalvithanthai Thiru.S.Vellaichamy Nadar of Virudhunagar has contributed largely for the creation of this institution by his enthusiastic assistance in all ways. In order to perpetuate his pleasant memory, this College has been named after him.

The College was inaugurated on 20^th July 1965 by our beloved National leader ‘Bharat Ratna’ Thiru. K. Kamaraj.

Today this co-educational citadel of learning has developed into a postgraduate and research institution imparting quality education with the main emphasis on conduct and character development.

Even though it is run by the Nadar Mahajana Sangam, the institution caters to the needs of all, without any discrimination of caste, creed or religion.

The College has planned its work so as to have a well-integrated scheme of instruction, tutorial help and personal guidance coupled with healthy life and community activities to suit individual needs.  The objective is to inculcate the habits of punctuality and the sense of responsibility among students so that they become worthy citizens of India.

Rules and Regulations

The college library is kept open from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm on all working days. Sunday is holiday. It remains open on vacation too.

• Every effort must be made to minimize noise and disturbance in, and immediately outside the library.
• Personal belongings should be left at the property counter of the library.
• Mobile phones may not be used inside the library.
• Library computers must be strictly used for academic purpose only.
• Tokens are not transferable. Sub –lending of books is strictly forbidden.
• Students must bring their ID card and library token at the time of borrowing books.
• No books will be used without library token.
• Members of teaching faculty can borrow up to 15 books and members of non teaching staff may borrow not more than 5 books at a time.
• Books are usually lent for a period of 15 days. Books may be further renewed if it is not reserved by any other student.
• Library users should not damage, write or make any mark on books or and any belongings of the library.
• Reference books will not be lent.
• Loss of library tokens must be informed to the librarian, who will issue duplicate token on the payment of Rs20 per token.
• If a book is lost, the borrower must supply a new copy of the book to the library or three times of the cost of the book.
• Staff and students should return all books borrowed from the library one week before the last working day of the academic year.
• All users should renew their library tokens at the beginning of the academic year.
• At the time of borrowing, the users should examine the book and report it to the librarian about any damage found therein. Otherwise the borrower is responsible for the damage.
• Theft, vandalism and destruction of library books. Journals and related materials are considered serious offences and those who cause such offences will be dealt seriously.
