About

Comprising of Noorul Islam College of Engineering as its constituent teaching unit has been declared as a Deemed-to-be-University by Ministry of Human Resource Development  (Department of Higher Education), Government of India under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, on the advice of UGC, vide Notification No.F.9-51/2004-U.3 dated 8th December 2008. The University is run by the Noorul Islam Center for Higher Education (NICHE) Society with Janab Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan as President of the Society, NICHE and the Chancellor of the University, NICHE.     The University campus at Kumaracoil, Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu is in the serene and lush green base of Velimalai, a spectacular part of Western Ghat Hills near the  historically famous Padmanabhapuram Palace. It is only 1.5 km interior towards  the foothills of the mountains from Kumaracoil Junction on the Kanyakumari Thiruvanthapuram National Highway (NH-47)-about 30 km from Kanyakumari and 60 km from Trivandrum, the capital city of the state of Kerala. Noorul Islam College of Engineering, the constituent teaching unit of Noorul Islam University was established in the year 1989-90, with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education and started offering two engineering courses, namely, B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering with 40 students in each course. Since then the college has registered continuous growth in academic activities by offering more and new Engineering and Technology courses with development of required      infrastructure facilities such as building, library, faculty, computers and relevant latest software and peripherals, equipment etc.

The educational institution – Noorul Islam College of Engineering - established with a humble beginning in the year 1989 with two undergraduate engineering programs with an intake capacity of 80 students, has now metamorphosed itself into one of the great and best educational institutions in southern part of India.   The Noorul Islam College of Engineering, now, having attained the status of University, its responsibilities have become manifold and vision broadened and mission lengthened. The challenge that we have at hand now is the challenge of transforming the engineering education systems of India into a system of nurturing world-class quality in the human capital development side by side with the development of intellectual and knowledge capital to support the country's march towards economic and Industrial progress and development.  Consistently commendable performance, constant endeavors to promote research and innovation, earnest efforts to foster linkages with the industry and community, imparting expertise in essential areas and achieving excellence are the hallmarks of a university. Admission Procedure

NICHE courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 92 courses offered at NICHE. The courses are offered in fields like Science, Engineering, Management, Computer Applications. NICHE courses includes B.Sc, Ph.D, BE, BBA, MBA, B.Tech, ME, BCA, BASLP, M.Phil. The popular courses at NICHE is B.Sc, Ph.D, BE.

Admission Criteria

UG Admission 2025

NICHE offers B.B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. courses at the undergraduate level. The basic eligibility is to have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with relevant subjects.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam with at least 45% marks in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship. Candidates from reserved categories must have scored at least 40%.
  
• Candidates will have to qualify for JEE Mains or entrance exam to secure admission in B.Tech.

BBA & B.Com.

• Candidates cleared 10+2 (CBSE or any Equivalent Board) with min. 40% marks are eligible to apply for BBA, B.Com.
  
• Candidates will have to qualify entrance to secure their admission.
  

B.Sc.

• For B.Sc. (PCM), the candidates must have passed 12th class or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  
• For B.Sc. in Biology the candidate must have successfully completed 10+2 in Science (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics)/ Biology with min. 50%
  

PG Admission 2025

NICHE offers MA, M.Sc., M.Com. courses at the postgraduate level. The duration for these courses is two years. The basic eligibility is to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with relevant subjects.

Eligibility Criteria

MA & M.Sc.-

• Candidates must have passed a UG course with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates).
  
• The Candidate shall satisfy the conditions regarding qualifying marks, number of attempts, and mode of admission, age and physical fitness as prescribed by the competent statutory authority.
  

M.Com.-

• The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing M.Com. degree is having graduation degree in Commerce Stream
  
• The Candidate shall satisfy the conditions regarding qualifying marks, number of attempts, and mode of admission, age and physical fitness as prescribed by the competent statutory authority.
  
• Notwithstanding the above qualifying examination, the Candidate might have passed, he/she shall write an entrance examination designed to test the proficiency/aptitude of the Candidate on areas determined by the constituent statutory authority.

The library has a collection of 86452 good and newly published books. Under this collection 804 prestigious E books, 69 periodicals, and 207-e journals. e-books. The library’s operations are fully automated, including acquisition, circulation with renewal and reservation provisions, serial control, and online web-based Public Access Catalogue (web-OPAC).

Free Coaching Classes: Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education provides free coaching classes for clearing competitive exams such as Banking, TNPSC, etc to the students.NICHE has a medical care center that includes two physicians, sufficient nursing staff, and an emergency room with inpatient services inside the campus for both the students and staff members.
