Admission Procedure

The admission procedure for the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) involves registering online, appearing for the NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) or other qualifying exams (like JEE Main, GATE, XAT, MAT, CMAT), and participating in a counselling session for seat allocation. B.Tech / B.Sc- 4 Years Course

Admission Process

• Admission is mainly through the institute’s own entrance test: NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE). 

• There are three possible entry paths:

  • NEE‑II (PCM) — For B.Tech (Engineering/Technology) courses. 

  • NEE‑II (PCB) — For B.Sc (Hons) in Forestry. 

  • Alternative route for B.Tech: Via qualifying in JEE Main + participating in counselling (through JoSAA / CSAB) — if you choose NERIST among your preferences.

Eligibility

B.Tech:

• You must qualify in JEE Main and then participate in JoSAA/CSAB counselling while selecting NERIST. 

• Additional age/eligibility criteria follow institute norms (as per Academic Bye‑Laws). 

B.Sc:

• The candidate must have passed (or appeared) 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB). 

• Age limit for general category around 23 years (with relaxation for reserved categories)

M.Tech / M.SC - 2 Years Course

Admission Process

• NERIST admits students to PG (M.Tech / M.Sc / MBA) via its own entrance test: NERIST Post Graduate Entrance Test (NEPGET). 

• For M.Tech: candidates having valid national-level scores (e.g. GATE or NET) may get exemption from written test depending on discipline.

Eligibility

M.Tech:

Bachelor’s degree (B.E / B.Tech or equivalent) in relevant discipline with ≥ 60% aggregate marks or CGPA ≥ 6.5/10.

M.Sc:

Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) in the relevant discipline (Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Forestry) with ≥ 60% marks or CGPA ≥ 6.5/10.

MBA - 2 Years Course

Admission Process

For MBA: selection involves two stages: a written test (NEPGET) — unless exempted due to valid CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT — followed by Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (recognized by UGC/AICTE) with minimum 55% aggregate (for general; relaxations/criteria may apply for reserved categories).
