Non-Resident Telugu physicians hailing from the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh are acutely aware of the need to establish a modern specialty and general hospital in Vijayawada to serve the people of this region. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has made a policy decision to give an Essentiality Certificate to establish atleast one medical college in each district of Andhra Pradesh. By this impetus, a group of NRI Physicians purchased 50 acres of land and established a 750-bed NRI General Hospital and NRI Academy of Science Medical College in Chinna Kakani, between Guntur and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, India.

The main objective of NRIAS is to promote the best in medical education & to produce doctors with global standards while providing affordable health care to the needy people of the society on non-profit basis with state-of-the-art facilities and modern medical equipment.

Admission Procedure

Admission Criteria

MBBS Admission 

NRI Medical College offers MBBS course at UG level. Candidates applying must have passed 10+2 from Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology or Biology as optional subjects including a practical test in each subject. Candidate shall not be admitted to the MBBS course unless he/she has completed the age of 17-year on or before December 31. Admissions are granted on the basis of NEET entrance exam conducted by CBSE.

PG  Admissions

NRI Medical College offers MD, MS and PG diploma courses in various disciplines. Candidates applying should have done MBBS from an MCI recognized institution. Selections to MD, MS and PG diploma courses are done on the basis of NEET PG. Candidates applying must be registered with MCI or State Medical Council of Andhra Pradesh.

Paramedical Courses Admission

The College offers B.Sc and Diploma in multiple Paramedical disciplines. Candidates applying should have done HSC with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology subjects from Andhra Pradesh or equivalent board. Admission to all the courses is on the basis of qualifying examination. Application form for all the courses is to be filled online through college website.

M.Ch and DM Admission 

NRI Medical College offers M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae) in Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Surgery and Neuro Surgery and DM in Cardiology. Minimum eligibility for applying for M.Ch and DM course is Master’s degree or its equivalent in the relevant discipline. All candidates seeking admission to M.Ch or DM course must have done permanent registration with Medical Council of India.

All the seats of M.Ch and DM courses are filled considering performance of candidate in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Super Specialty (NEET-SS). Admission to all the seats of Super Specialty courses is on the basis of counselling conducted by the Director General of Health Services, New Delhi.

Scholarship

Eligible students can apply for state government scholarships, category-based fee reimbursement schemes, and merit-based financial assistance as per Andhra Pradesh government norms and institutional guidelines.

Placement

Medical colleges do not follow conventional placements. Graduates complete a compulsory rotating internship at the attached hospital. Alumni pursue postgraduate medical education, junior residency, government medical services, private hospitals, research roles, or clinical practice. We have started our Medical College in the year 2003-2004 with an intake of 100 students with the kind permiss ion given by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as per the recommendations of the Medical Council of India. The College and the Hospital are situated in a sprawling campus and has a total built-up area of 10,00,000 sq.ft comprising of 8 buildings. The entire necessary infrastructure is composed of fully-equipped laboratories, air-conditioned lecture halls attached with a 750 bed Teaching Hospital as per MCI norms. Our teaching staff consists of many renowned professionals from Andhra Pradesh.

The central library houses a wide collection of medical textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, and periodicals. It provides access to digital resources, e-journals, and online medical databases. Quiet reading halls, internet-enabled sections, and extended study hours during examinations support academic and research activities.

Hostel
