Admission Criteria

MBBS Admission 

PMCH Patna offers an MBBS program. Candidates should have completed 10+2 in relevant streams with a minimum of 55% (45% for SC/ST) from any recognized board of Education. The first year fee for the MBBS program is INR 9,500.Admission to the MBBS program is based on the NEET exam, which is followed by the counselling either by the MCC(Medical Counselling Committee) or UGMAC. Registration for the NEET is usually held in the months of Mar - Apr.

MD/MS Admission 

PMCH Patna offers MD/MS program. Candidates applying for MD/MS program should have completed graduation in MBBS from any recognized university. Admission to the MD/MS will be based on NEET PG score, which is followed by counselling. NEET PG Exam date is Aug 03, 2025.

Master of Chirurgiae Admission

Eligibility is determined through interviews. The Bihar government offers additional support via the Saat Nischay scheme and student credit cards. State and central government scholarships and interest-free loans are available for students from reserved categories or families with income below INR 2.5 lakh annually. Loan facilities are accessible through the State Bank of India, covering four years of expenses, with repayment beginning post-internship. Placement

Patna Medical College and Hospital is located in Patna, Bihar, near the bank of river. The campus is spread over approximately 57 acres. Which is around 8 km from Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport and just 2 km from Patna Junction Railway Station.PMCH Patna offers various facilities including lecture halls, laboratories, library, research infrastructure, and one of the largest government teaching hospitals in Bihar. The campus also provides separate hostel accommodations for male and female students.

As per the students' review, PMCH is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical colleges in Bihar. Patient inflow is very high providing medical students with extensive clinical exposure and hands-on experience. The faculty at PMCH is highly experienced, with professors known for their humility and polite demeanor, creating a supportive learning environment for students.However, the campus does have some drawbacks. It lacks proper sports facilities such as badminton and volleyball courts. During the rainy season, the roads and internal pathways often become muddy and difficult to navigate. While some of the infrastructure is old, major upgrades and construction of new buildings are currently underway to modernize the campus.

Hostel

The college provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls within the campus. There are 7 hostels for boys, including new constructions like the Jeevak hostel accommodating 3 students per room, and 2 hostels for girls, with one comprising 140 rooms for undergraduates and 120 for postgraduates. Fees for the hostel are approximately Rs. 800-1100 per month, and mess charges are around Rs. 1500-3000 per month, offering good and hygienic food with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available.

Facilities include 24/7 electricity, water supply, and Wi-Fi, with hostels equipped with shared rooms, individual beds, tables, chairs, and cupboards. Postgraduate students often receive single rooms with attached bathrooms, while undergraduates share double or triple rooms. Boys' hostels offer more freedom with no restrictions on appliance use, while girls' hostels have some limits. New constructions are underway, promising improved facilities by 2025, including single-room availability for all students. Rooms are generally clean, and the hostels are well-guarded and cooperative, though current room allocation starts from the second year due to ongoing construction.
